AP All State Team

Just because you're a top college prospect, doesn't mean you play to your ability. I think these should be judged by what was done on the field.

Interesting, Ronnie Letcher, Player of the year in 4A, district 8, nominated but didn't even make honorable mention. Makes you wonder what games, the writers who did vote, went to. Someone who was out with an injury the entire season made the team, not taking anything from the kid, but, how can you rate a player who didn't play against ones who did play? I would like to compare this list to the coaches list, I think their list will be very different.

In all fairness to writers, how in the world can we expect them to know who the actual best players are?

I don't know if Ryan Ernst of the KY/Cincy Enquirer voted or not but he couldn't tell you how to get south of Florence/Union. He's busy enough covering the many, many games in NKY. Why would he know the best NT in the state?

Congrats to all these kids. This is a great achievment for them.

I'd like to pat a couple of guys on the back that deserve to be there.

Wes Caldwell WR Led the state in T.D.'s by a WR this year. Also has over 1,000 yards recieving.

Ben Revere shut down three of the top WR's listed on this all state team. Matched up man to man every week with the top WR/TE on the opponents team. Held some of the top WR/TE's to 0 catch nights, 1 catch nights and all well under their average yards per game. I only remember one person scoring on him and that was Victor Anderson who is pretty good one on one!

Both of these guys are Juniors and that might have hurt them in this poll but they are the elite in the state at their positions.

Bowling Green has no 1st team defensive players and Lex Cath has 2 first team offensive players. Looks like the Knights will roll on Saturday. =)

I think once you get past a writer's 'beat,' it comes down to name power.

For those of you who want to complain, you need to blame the voters who didn't vote. Only 16 out of an eligible 30 some voters voted. It sure looks like the voters from Eastern Ky. did their job. :thumb: :thumb:

True enough.

He also doesnt know alot about volleyball after seeing his picks for the all-star squad......i dont think he gets out of Kenton Co very often so it doesnt surprise me.... :irked:

^All the more reason the BGP All-Star team will soon rival the C-J as the most prestigious ranking when it comes to all-state selections.

Cant argue that :thumb: Now if i could get somemore BGP'ers into the volleyball forum :ylsuper:

As I said earlier, I don't put much stock in the AP ballot. The Class A player of the year who is being looked at by Kentucky and Louisville doesn't even get mentioned.

Congrats to Steven Hunter of Bell Co. Unusual to see a WR from Bell Co. make the all-state team. LOL.

Congratulations to all the players named by AP to this team. Nonetheless, it boggles my mind that Doug Beaumont, RB/WR/DB/LB for Male, does not even make the honorable mention list. What an oversite!

Or you get some more volleyball fans to join BGP. Not to criticize you at all, it's just that even if I went to the volleyball forum I wouldn't have anything to talk about.
