Asking almost every Catholic HS coach if they want the job?

Will this more of CCH going out and getting their guy or waiting for qualified coaches to apply? What is proper etiquette?

If Covington Catholic is serious about wanting to win regions, then yes, Rick Shumate is a serious candidate!

Lighten up Francis. Henley left Holmes around April 20th and Booher was named Head Coach on May 17th. What makes you think CovCath is any less serious about naming a replacement than Holmes who took 4 weeks? They will name a head coach when they are good and ready. Until then, enjoy reading TheOldGuy's baseball summaries.

Apples and oranges comparing Holmes and CCH, I want to see the crazies back at Rupp soon! And I don't like baseball as much.

Color me inpatient. A weeks goes by and the last post is about Bruce Pearl? I don't think that orange jacket would make it on the sidelines, unless it was on one of the Crazies.

 

Don't misunderstand me. I am not being critical. They should take all the time they need. I am just impatient.

 

I think the administration IS serious. (well most of them anyway.) They have to be seeing the impact of bringing in a guy to develop the whole program on the football side of the house. That has to be a driver on the basketball side.

I think Shumate would do an outstanding job at CovCath.

 

I think the administration at CovCAth will take their time and do a great job with the hire. Just like the Holmes job I would think there would be significant interest outside of the Northern Kentucky area.

I have officially removed my name from consideration for the vacated Cov. Cath. head basketball coaching job. The two most significant reasons are 1) Mr. Rowe's preference to fill the position with a full time teacher, rather than a para-professional and 2) My complete absence of qualifications or meaningful basketball knowledge. (I do, however, remain willing to "help" the new hire with copius amounts of suggestions shouted from the stands during games.)

This could apply to a LOT of people at a LOT of schools.

I agree. I think that is the bigger part of the problem. Until the administration gets serious about wanting a winning program, I fear things will remain the same.

There is solid talent in each grade. I'm not sure I'd say "loaded."

Believe it or not, I've heard the same sentiment as StickerMann's post stated by the likes of Lynn Ray, Mike Guidugli, Andy Zerhusen and Tom Eckerle - honestly. In fact, Coach Ray, Coach Ecks and Zeus all stated that when they were presenting at the various alumni get-togethers they were asked to speak at in the Griffin Building. Coach Ray said (to paraphrase), "I've been here a long time, and I've seen a lot of administrators come through the school, and I haven't liked many of them. I guess its my nature and their nature. For some reason or other, though, I really like Bob Rowe, and I don't exactly know why. But what I do know is that he really does have the school's and the Cov Cath community's best interests at heart."
