Best wishes to Coach Listerman

Like CovCathiradio, I too have enjoyed traveling and talking to Coach L for the last few years....

 

Throughout the Commonwealth there hasn't been a place that I have been with Coach L, that someone hasn't come up to him and wanted to shake his hand and talk basketball. At this years Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tourney time and time again coaches from all over Kentucky came around to talk with Coach L for a few minutes and he seemed to know them all.

 

I am going to miss the rides, the talks, the jokes and the true Christian Love that Coach L had for anyone he met.

 

Coach L, an outstanding Catholic/Christian, an outstanding Teacher, an outstanding example to young men and Oh BTW, he can coach basketball.

 

Good luck Coach L, there will be a new CovCath Basketball Coach at CovCath one day soon, but like Coach Hils, you too will never be replaced.

Tip of the hat to Coach Listerman! Definately a good coach. Many a good battle vs. Holmes.

After "The Email", who could blame him. Very sad that a few "wannabees" probably had a little bit to do with his decision. Good Luck finding a better person and coach combined in the search process. The only person that comes to mind is Ronnie Dawn of NewCath. I'd say if CovCath was very, very serious about its Basketball program then they better lay everything they got on the table and make it very difficult for him to turn down. Not real sure he would leave NewCath anyway, pretty deep roots there.

Right on both accounts. Getting to see both his boys play with passion and respect for game; but most importantly better people off the court. As a dad of two boys I have mad respect for him and wish him the best moving forward. I think coach Dawn would be a great choice for the talent in the pipeline.

Coach Listerman is a class act. He was a great ambassador for the school. Enjoy your time off!

Sorry to see Coach L. move on from the position of head coach (glad to see he is remaining on the faculty). He will be missed. One of the many things I admire about Coach L. is the respect and attention he showed all of his students (not just the players). A very good guy. Best of luck in all future endeavors.

Coach says that he was no forced out, as well as he may not be done coaching. Again, thanks again Coach, and best of luck in the future!

Coach Listerman is one of those rare people, that is not only a great coach, but has been a huge positive influence in so many young people's lives. I know, that even though he coached me many, many years ago, and I have only spoken to him 3 or 4 times since, if I had a problem, and approached him, he would go to the nth degree to help me. Coach is one of my favorite people that have been in my life. Good luck Coach. I know things will work out in a great way for you.

That's an interesting name I've heard as well, along with Faust, who's been named every time the CCH job has been rumored to possibly open up? Will be interesting to see which way they go, and Coach L will be very difficult to replace!

Brossart is loaded with talent in the lower classes and have a chance for a couple of trips to Rupp over the next couple of years. Got a pretty good gig there with an excellent support staff. Just don't see this one happening.

Good point. And its not like the CovCath basketball job is as coveted as some might suggest attracting big name coaches, it takes a special person to lead these types of programs. I guess that is always the big question, who and how can we get the perfect fit and coach? Need a guy who can come in and build off of what Coach L has established, already have some respect from PHM and some support from the emailers, have the backing of the administration, love the kids first and help them grow into men, win 20 plus times a yr more times than not and oh yeah be a fish eater, lol.

 

 

Uhhhhhhhh, the guy that fits the job description the most just walked, not good imo.
