Question: Will Teague be playing for Indiana?

 

If he can play for the Indiana team, what differentiates this event from the Derby Festival Classic (which he understandably declined to play in the McDonald's All-American & Jordan Brand Classic All-Star Games)?

 

I'm guessing that if he is in fact eligible to play in this game, that it may somehow be sanctioned by his home state's governing body for HS athletics, but that's purely an assumption. Can anyone provide some clarification?

Why would you not want to play? I don't quite comprehend how one can turn down an opportunity.

 

Also, whispers that Chane Behanan will not be playing either.

I'm pretty sure tryouts will be at Manual High school in Louisville this Friday and Saturday.

The sponsoring Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation has decided on the site and the schedule for this weekend’s Kentucky All-Stars basketball teams’ tryouts.

 

The they will be held Friday, April 15, at the University of Louisville’s Cardinal Stadium, and Saturday, April 16, at Manual High Schoool

• Friday at Cardinal Arena: Girls 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Boys 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
  
• Saturday at Manual: Girls and boys 1st session 9:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.; 2nd session 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  

The teams will be announced early next week.

Indiana All-Star team announced:

 

 

Three McDonald’s All-Americans - Cody Zeller, Marquis Teague and Braden Dawson - were among 13 players named to the Indiana All-Star team.

 

Zeller, an Indiana University signee, is joined by his future teammate - Austin Etherington - on the All-Star team.

 

The Indiana All-Stars will play the Kentucky All-Stars on June 10at Bellarmine University and the next day at Conseco Fieldhouse.

 

Teague, a Kentucky signee, is among three top point guards on the All-Star team along with Xavier signee Dee Davis and Illinois State signee Nic Moore.

 

Also on the team is New Albany’s Chris Whitehead and Eastern Kentucky signee Eric Stutz of Castle. Other players: Hammond Bishop Noll’s Adonis Filer, Munster’s Joe Crisman, Lowell’s Austin Richie, Center Grove’s Andy Smeathers and Terre Haute North’s Justin Gant.

Three high-profile players won't be trying out for the Kentucky All-Stars' boys' basketball team. Bowling Green star Chane Behanan, and Clark County standouts Robbie Stenzel and Vinny Zollo, declined invitations to the tryouts that will be held Friday and Saturday at Manual. Bowling Green Coach D.J. Sherrill said Behanan, who has signed with Louisville, considered it an honor to be invited and would love to play against Indiana in the all-star rivalry. But Behanan starts summer school at U of L the first week of June, and must complete nine hours of class work if he wants to be part of the Cardinals' trip to Australia in July. "He has to lock in academically, so schedule-wise, the (Kentucky All-Stars) won't work for him." Behanan played in the McDonald's All-American all-star game in Chicago a couple weeks ago, and he'll play in the Derby Festival Classic in Louisville next week. As for Stenzel (EKU signee) and Zollo (WKU) , Clark County Coach Scott Humphrey said he's "disappointed they chose not to compete for a spot." Clark County's Corey Rogers, who'll play football at UT-Martin, will try out. Taylor Martin of Lexington Catholic and Ryan Fucci of Tates Creek won't try out because they're playing baseball. Scott Schuette of Lexington Catholic will take part. The boys' and girls' all-star teams will be announced next week.

Thanks for the info. I guess I can't fault Behanan for that but he'll be taking classes and playing basketball in the fall. Don't see how this would be different.

When said that way I can understand that sentiment as well. There have been situations in the past where people didn't "tryout" bit still made the team.

 

I would think he is deserving of a spot even if he didn't tryout.

IMO...there is nothing to decide. You only get one opportunity to represent your state. Surprising.
