February 19, 201115 yr I spent some time down in Lexington for a while when I was little. Some of the kids down there would conclude saying grace with, "Amen, brother Ben. Shot a turkey, killed a hen." No idea where they got it, and have never heard it since.

Grew up in Dayton Ky we used to say that too after saying grace .Only it wasn't a turkey it was rooster or as my little brother used to say shot a oooga killed a hen .
