Kentucky - 2012 Recruiting

Featured Replies

Looks like UK's roster is set.

Looking that way more and more everyday. I definitely cannot complain though, once again Cal has a pretty talented squad, even after another mass exodus.

^ Cal's one of the few coaches who have seen Trocha play in person. When he first got here last year I know Cal and co. went to go see him. If Cal likes him, its good enough for me.

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!

GT, do you have any info on Trocha??

Nope. Out in the cold on this one...

Out in the cold with everything, or have you at least heard any chatter or word of mouth on the circuit about his game/ability? Have you heard anything about him at all or is he truly the international man of mystery?

i'll ask Lucas Riva Nogueira from Brazil if he knows anything, i'm sure he had played against him.

This quote is quite good, Trocha's coach says UK staff told him ... "They said he's a little shorter than Anthony Davis but his skill set is higher." This is very interesting as he is a man of mystery and I don't know how anybody could not trust Coach Cals eye for talent...If he has the potential to be as good as Davis then I'll take him, he ends up half as good as Davis I'll take him...Noel, Cauley and Trocha could be a pretty deadly shot blocking force...

Here's a vid of Trocha, keep in mind this is 3 years ago and he was just 15 years old...He is now a top 60 player and I am sure he is still going to get a lot better...

IN CAL WE TRUST!!!

^First part of that video is brutal, but last 5 minutes (and from what appears the second half of the same game) you can actually see some of the potential. Again, like said, video is three years old. I had read a quote that said Cal said something to the effect of, "that kid has some talent, you let me have him for 2 or 3 years and he's going to be the number one pick." If that has any truth in it at all, and if UK's staff actually told even half of a lie in saying to his American coach that, "he was shorter than Davis but more skilled", then that does it for me. Like I've said plenty of times I'm going to trust Calipari no matter what he does until this run comes to an end. He is so far out in front in college basketball and his ability to set trends and get things done give me all the reason to trust in him 100%. Guy knows what he's doing and is at a point in his career that he gets the majority of the kid's he wants. He is in great shape with a lot of high level 2013 guys so if he wants to give him a scholly then its for good reason, especially with another project 2-4 year player in Willis committed. I'm just holding onto my seatbelt hoping this ride doesn't end soon because I am having way too much fun being a Kentucky fan. Not only is Kentucky Kentucky again, but this could end up being one of the best UK era's in the storied history (barring any unforeseen occurrences). Cal + Kentucky is a lethal dose to the rest of the college basketball landscape and his record on the recruiting trail these last few years have backed that up, so if he (or other staffers) really even said anything remotely close to what these other guys are quoted as saying, then sign the kid up! May or may not end up getting much next season but seems to be a lot of potential Ed Cooley was said to discover the kid, and he is normally a great talent evaluator and has found his share of diamonds in the rough.

Honestly I can't look at a video from that far back and make any sort of evaluation. Could you imagine someone making evaluations on Davis from 4 years ago?........

Davis is a very unique situation. Trocha has been about the same size the whole time, only filled out more now (from what I've read). Obviously it makes it tough to evaluate anything in a video that is 3 years old, but that is literally the only footage out there. On another note it is way more beneficial in terms of evaluation to have a video that is actual game film and not just a hoopmixtape. You cannot base any kind of evaluation on highlights, but watching clips from a game like this can actually teach you a lot about someones game.

Even in my post I acknowledged the video's age, I was just pointing out if you actually watch the entire video you can see the potential he has in his game, even if it was three years ago and he was as raw as sushi. Anyone that long, quick, and athletic who can put it on the deck and step out and shoot it a little has some serious potential. Most bigs aren't very skilled.

UCLA's Scout site says Kentucky has shown some interest in point guard Stevie Clark, who is trying to reclassify into 2012.

2013 kid. Visiting UCLA this weekend.

It might be because I haven't paid as much attention in the past, but do we usually see this many reclassifications?
