January 27, 201115 yr So with the 2011 class almost complete (I still think UK adds Lacey), I've been hearing a lot about the '12 class the past couple weeks. It keeps being mentioned about a "super 7" or "super 8" that Coach Cal is focused on. They are: 1. Andre Drummond 6'9" C 3. Shabazz Muhammad 6'5" 2G 8. DeJuan Coleman 6'8" C 11. Alex Murphy 6'8" SF 13. Kaleb Tarczewski 7'0" C 18. Archie Goodwin 6'4" 2G 19. Perry Ellis 6'8" SF/PF 28. L.J. Rose 6'3" PG Murphy and Tarczewski are teammates. From what I've seen/read it seems Tarczewski may be more of a project that wouldn't contribute a whole lot his 1st season, and Murphy reminds me of a Kyle Singler type. It also seems like UK is in the best shape with Goodwin and Ellis from what I've read. Anyone have any info. on these guys? Who does everyone think they end up with? GT, got any inside info?
January 27, 201115 yr We better be thinking of last year. Jones will be gone Knight picked 19th in first round and possibly Lamb we could be back in the same shape as this year wit a six man rotatation and no depth! I'm excited about 2012 but we need a few big men for next year and if we need to cut Vargas and some others I hate it but that's reality they can transfer to a NIAI or a Mid Major and we will all still root for them and they'll get an College Education! However, at UK you must as a player be competent to play at this level! Edited January 27, 201115 yr by bugatti Rule 13
January 27, 201115 yr 6'8 1/2" Nemanja Bezbradica from Serbia. A very good player who plays the 4 and 5 and loves to get physical inside! In the FIBA 17u World Championships this summer agaisnt Team USA he was: 10/13 from the field, 8 rebounds, on his way to a 22 point game, I think all but one of his shots were contested as well. He has a few very nice dunks in the first half of the game too. He is also looking for a high school for next year in the US before he heads off to college. Other schools looking at him are UC, Tennessee, Maryland, Portland, Georgtown, Tulsa, and several others at this point. His top three at this point are UC, UK and Tennessee. Some colleges want to see about accelerating things and have him play next season, as they see him as getting a good amount of PT already. There are two other Euro players UK are looking at as well, a very good shooter and a true post player, who I am not at liberty to say who they are at this point.

If that's the case, I'll take my chances with Eloy with a year under Cal's system. Lamb will not be a 1st rounder at this point, he'll be back. Knight is a toss-up, who I think is leaning towards leaving, however the pending lockout could put a wrench in those plans.
January 27, 201115 yr UKMuatang Fan, I didn't pull my observation or my opinion out of thin air! However, according to KY Sports Radio, former UK great Keven Grevey LA Lakers Scout will validate what I said in regard to Jones, Knight, and Lamb! Also, you don't think there is any Big Men who could tranfer from a Junior Colllege or a Community College who's grades are now exceptibale to Division One Standards or just a Transfer in all of the US or World that Coach Cal could get to come to the Mecca of College Basketball to play for UK! This is my opinion with the exception of the Keven Grevey info and he even said Josh Harrellson could play D ball at the ext level and remeber he's a NBA Scout! Go Big Blue!

Vargas was a JUCO stud last year. Averaged something like 25 and 14 I think....We've all seen how that's worked out. I love how you think all UK has to do is snap there fingers and a guy automatically wants to play at UK. It doesn't work that way. Sure you think UK is the greatest thing in the world, but not all players do. I don't care who said it. There were NBA scouts last year who said Orton and Bledsoe weren't 1st rounders....How'd that turn out? Anyone who thinks they know exactly where someone is going to go in the draft is fooling themselves. Jones is gone, Knight is most likely gone, but may come back. As of right now, Lamb is not a 1st rounder. That could change by the end of the year, but as of today he isn't.
January 27, 201115 yr I... Want... Drummond... I can die a happy man if I get to see this kid in Kentucky blue.
January 27, 201115 yr ^ Unless something crazy happens, I don't see him forefitting the number one spot in the rankings when it is all said and done. So much upside and potential from a guy his size/caliber. Hard to find a big man that can move that good and have so much athleticism.

January 27, 201115 yr UK has offered Goodwin. Muhammad is supposedly down to UK & Duke, after he had long been considered a UNC guy. If Cal can get Perry Ellis out of Kansas, that would be ridiculous. UK will need 7 guys or so out of this class, b/c the 2012-13 roster seems to be quite a thin group.

Not a bad guy to have on your squad.
January 28, 201115 yr From what I've read, he seems to be UConn's to lose. Yeah, I've seen that too... However, Cal still has a year or more to work his magic. Anything's possible with him!
January 28, 201115 yr He really reminds me of Amare Stoudamire. Not a bad guy to have on your squad. No not at all. I can def see some Amare, but Amare is more less a true PF type. I think Drummond will always be a true 5 although his abilities would allow him to be able to play the 4. I think he is more along the lines of a bigger Dwight Howard once you factor in the explosiveness and athleticism.
January 28, 201115 yr I want Drummond pretty badly as well. Dude is a beast. If they could land Muhammed and either Drummond/Coleman it'd be a great start to a recruiting class, although there doesn't seem to be anyone that's really leaning UK hard like there was in the 2011 class. Let's hope Cal can work his magic like he did with Teague and Wiltjer this year.
January 28, 201115 yr Author ^I would love Drummond, but I think that's a longshot. My ideal (realistic) class: Murphy Tarczewski Muhammad Goodwin Ellis
