Notre Dame/Brian Kelly Recruiting Push

Featured Replies

I know one of the big knocks on Kelly was his recruiting ability, but right now Notre Dame is putting on a show. 5 star DE Stephan Tuitt decommits from ND to go to Georgia Tech, and within 24 hours Kelly and Diaco have him back in Blue and Gold. That is amazing. They also steal Ishaq Williams (OLB/DE) from Penn State and Aaron Lynch (DE) from Florida State.

According to Pete Sampson: "Notre Dame has landed only one defender ranked higher than Williams in the past 10 years: Manti Te'o. The only defensive end to sign with the Irish ranked higher than Lynch remains Victor Abiamiri, with Tuitt presumably to follow. That means after signing just two elite defensive prospects in the past decade, Notre Dame is on the verge of landing three at once."

The defensive side of the ball for Notre Dame the next few years is going to be feared. How will opponents stop these guys? Glad I'm not an opposing QB...

Even with the talent that Notre Dame has brought in, it hasn't done them much good lately with the disappointing seasons they've had for quite awhile now. Highly talented players are good and all but you have to get them to mesh and produce on the field. Either way its great for ND to land those highly touted defensive prospects.

I agree they have had talented classes in the past, but for the most part that was on the offensive side of the ball and they didn't really have trouble scoring. The weakness has been the defense. The fact that their getting very good and highly ranked defensive players is what excites me.

They also picked up the Martin kid who de-committed from UK.

Got a kid out of Ohio that de-committed from Florida.

Sounds like good things are taking place in South Bend!

BK's better than their last few coaches....

I agree and believe he will be the one to meet the expectations that the school is wanting to see.

If the defensive issues are taken care of, the Irish will be a team in the middle of title contention.

Next year? I am a huge Notre Dame fan, however to say we will be in the middle of title contention next year would be going a little to far with it. I do think BK will get Notre Dame back to that point, and I think when it comes to competiting for a title it could be in two years. However next year at best, I think would be a BCS bowl.

I think they will be a top 10 team next year after watching them beat up on the U!

Hardly. I'd put money on it that they aren't that good. They were unranked this year and beat an unranked Miami team. That doesn't make them a top 10 team by default. They still have A LOT to prove.

Come on man, even CCC would probably tell you that the canes were terrible this season especially by the bowl game.

Ignorance is bliss in this case.
