Any interesting games scheduled for next year?

Featured Replies

Though we will be decimated by graduation (losing 26 VERY good seniors), we are playing a very 'interesting' schedule next year. Among the opponents:

* Nease, FL (Tebow's old HS)

* Lou. Central (2010 3A state champs)

* Lou. Western (2010 4A semi-finalist)

* Lou. Manual (haven't played them since 2008)

* Warren Central (2010 5A quarter-finalist; beat Bowling Green in regular season; everybody returning)

* Campbell Co. (for a little "northern Ky. flavor")

Nease is to be part of a new Bowl game that is to be similar to the "Kirk Herbstriet Challenge" (St. X and Central involved as well).

Coach, Is it true that you were ordered NOT to play Trinity? If so, was a reason given? Trinity's offense is a little different from what these teams will show your kids. It seems to me that if you are serious about making a run at a state title it would be important to get experience against Trinity's style of offense.

If you were ordered, by whom was the directive issued? It seems that not scheduling Trinity is contrary to the "man up" philosophy you espoused earlier this season........for which I admired you immensely. I understand you may not be at liberty to give full disclosure. Regardless, the best of luck to you and the Bruins.

Lets cut the coaches a little slack here with the scheduling. First, he may not be responsible for the schedule. That could be part of the athletic directors duties. Second of all, all of the teams in 6A are remixing so in the case of 10 games, alot of schools have the 7 out of district games contracts done and had weeks 5, 7, and 9 for the district games. Swap out the 3 new district games and can you fit in Trinity? Does Trinity have the same open week as Ballard does? Serious questions-if you are climbing to the top, would you schedule the top dog or the 2nd or 3rd place team and climb over them first? If you are losing 26 seniors, do you schedule the toughest schedule out there?

Let's not always assume it goes Ballards way. I don't have any knowledge of this but lets say that Male is now week 5 on Trinity's schedule. Week 7 is St X. So Trinity has week 6 available and so does Ballard. Ballard says bring it on and Trinity wants week 2. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out.

Ryle (although not as good as years' past) will take on Cincy Colerain next year.

Should be interesting to see how Elliott fares against a big, physical, athletic defense like the Cards.

Has the potential to be real ugly for Ryle. Colerain will lose multiple players who will be playing D-1 college football next year but they're Colerain, their next guy up is better than Ryle's next guy up.

Travis Elliot won't even be the best RB on the field.

Mayfield will start back playing The Murray Tigers in 2011. These two teams and fan bases dont like each other at all. It will be a great one to watch.

Highlands-Elder will be an absolute masterpiece of high school football. The pre and post game hype surrounding this one will have implications that reverberate for many years to come. We may just see a rivalry in the making.

I agree this one will be a real humdinger over at the Pit in Price Hill. Elder is coming off a horrendous season and will be hungry next year. Normally when they have a subpar or average year they tend to have excellent teams the following years.

The game is at HHS.

The game is at HHS.

I guess he has overdosed on the blue cool-aid again ! Home game for HHS , correct ?

nope first game in the 2 yr contract is at the Pit per Ryan Ernst blog. He would know hes an Elder grad.

I was told Elder started 8 sophs. on defense this past season. I just don't see any team going into The Pit and winning next year.

Ryan graduated from St. X.

Not confirmed but my understanding is that Boyle's schedule in 2011 includes:

Highlands

Danville

Allen County-Scottsville

Christian County

John Hardin

Bowling Green

District (Lex Cath, Mercer, Marion, Taylor)

That's what I've been hearing. :thumb:

With Allen County Scottsville, Christian County, John Hardin, and Bowling Green on the sehedule does this make us a honorary WKY team?

Is there any must see games scheduled for next year? I have seen where Highlands is going to play Boyle County and Elder. Those should be fun to watch.

How about the rest of the teams? Would love to hear what interesting games the state finalists have on their schedule as well as some of the other elite teams. Any Indiana, Ohio, or TN opponents?

I'm gonna claim ignorance on this one, so let me ask: What is expected of Elder next year? I know they were on a relative low this past season. Are they expected to improve next year, and if so, are they expected to be back closer to form of the '08 and '09 seasons?

Or an honorary 5A team?
