Correct,

but I'm still suprised considered they had Cam Newton's case heard and ruled on in less than a day from the time he was declared ineligible.

You would think this would be a high priority issue by now, and would expect a similar time frame, but like you say, who knows with the NCAA. They just seem to do what they want.

With Newton its a different situation because the issues came up well into the season. They didn't have the same luxury of time to gather evidence and make a decision.

My guess is that the NCAA is not finished looking into the Newton situation. They just made a decision in the interim.

From my understanding barring any new info coming to light they have made their ruling on Newton.

Let's hope so, because if his case and ruling are our new defense for Kanter then we definitely don't want them going back and changing that decision after the fact.

I figured they made that decision so quickly to not murky the waters of the BCS National Championship Bowl announcement.

Does anybody know the timeline on this possible annoucement on Kanter since UK resubmitted new evidence to the NCAA Committee?

Go Big Blue!

2012

Oscar Combs says UK will know by next Friday (the 17th).

Seems like I read somewhere that the decision would be within two weeks from the date of the hearing. The 17th would be in that neighborhood.

I think Kanter will be ruled eligible and will be able to play immediately. I don't think the NCAA has much choice after the Newton ruling.

Is it safe to say that Auburn will be stripped of a National Championship if they beat Oregon? I smell a Memphis situation coming a mile away.......

Thats also my concern and makes me nervous about Enes as well. One thing is for sure if the NCAA rules Kanter eligible and then renigs on their decisions of both he and Newton then there will be an upraor that could change college sports for quite some time. It will be interesting to see what happens but it's certainly making me nervous.

The NCAA has ruled him eligible and unless some new information is brought forward, I believe you will see no more action from them.

If the NCAA rules for Kanter, that will be the end of it, but if they lose, Kentucky can still appeal.

IF the NCAA changes their decions on Newton it would be becasue they found out he indead knew what his dad was asking for and he was not in the dark. If Kanter is ruled eligible I think that will be the end of it.

Those are my thoughts as well. The NCAA doesn't issue interim rulings, but they don't hesitate to reopen cases if they get "new" information.

So the guys doing the commentating for the UK game today didn't seem to think that the outlook was good for Kanter's reinstatement.
