December 13, 201015 yr I asked a legitimate question. I'd love to hear a legitimate answer. If you cut Carson today, who plays QB the rest of the way? Even more importantly, who plays QB next season? Are you going to draft a rookie and throw him to the wolves immediately? They have other QBs on the team. Now we know they're not going to cut CP today. But if they did would it really hurt them? They probably will lose the last three games. And if the would win one, what does that prove? As far as next season, what have we seen from CP that would make us think they have a shot to win more than a couple of games with him playing? Time to move on.
December 13, 201015 yr Wasn't Peyton Manning in this situation? This is a far different time even than when Manning was in school. There are too many examlples of guys going back that should have came out. Bradford got lucky to still be taken so high. It's dumb to go back to school if you are the #1 pick no matter who is picking #1. If you don't like the team picking 1st pull an Eli Manning.

Time to move on. You didn't answer the question. Yes, Jordan Palmer & Dan LeFevour are the other QB's on the roster. Neither one of them are nearly as talented as Palmer. Who plays QB for the Bengals next year if they cut Palmer?

Are you going to draft a rookie and throw him to the wolves immediately? You sign someone for next year. I like bringing a young QB along and letting him play when he's ready. Sometimes that is ASAP sometimes it's not. And who cares? I propose getting rid of everyone that has a poor attitude and rebuilding through the draft over the next 2-4 years. That's how the really good teams are built for the long haul. The Pats, the Steelers, the Ravens, the Colts, the Chargers, the Eagles they all draft well they've all been good for this decade give or take a season or two.

December 13, 201015 yr You propose the Bengals rebuild through the draft? The Bengals? Through the draft? That's all I needed to hear. Yup, I do. They need to go and get the right people to run the franchise the right way or disband the team. They need to quit going for cheap FA hires, and just draft and if they sign someone get a complementary piece or two and not a big name guy because if a big name guy is willing to come to the Bengals, Cincy should know it's trouble. I'll say it again, the Lions are building through the draft, and they have historically drafted just as bad as the Bengals. It's got them to 3 wins this season which is not good, but they will be so much better going forward and if they will continue to draft well they'll be good to go in the future (if Stafford can stay healthy). Call me crazy, but just watch.

Time to move on. I'm tellling you our offensive coordinator is a big problem for A LOT of the struggles. Yes Palmer has struggled, however it is very easy to see that our offensive system sucks! We are very predictable, and even the players are talking about how other teams know what is coming, yet they still don't make any adjustments. We have seen the same routes from our guys since 2001. Its either a go route, a deep in, or some kind of out pattern. We do not have any good king of passing combinations, that really confuse anyone like other teams have. Yes Palmer is not an elite QB, however most QB's would struggle in this system. A system a person plays in plays huge roles in how someone does. Coaching plays a huge role in that. That is why we see guys like Orton all of a sudden look good in Denver under an offensive guy before he got fired. That is why we see Vick playing amazing now, now that he has a good system to play in. I mean do you think Vick learned how to throw and be a good QB while in jail? No not at all. He got coached up in Philly, and got put in a great system. So yes definitely can see Palmer doing much better next year, with different coaches. Rather it be here or somewhere else. Now if we have the same guys as this year running the team, then your right we shouldn't expect much better.

I mean yes he is a great way to build a franchise, however unless you have smart football people doing it. Then it really don't matter, because in the end they will make the wrong choice on most of the players.

It's well-known that the best way to build an NFL franchise is through the draft, so you're right in that regard. It's equally well-known that the Bengals (namely Mike Brown) are unable to do so.
December 13, 201015 yr Finding a new (and hopefully better) OC would seem to be an easier fix than doing so at QB. I think Carson's still got enough left in the tank that if given a chance with a different coordinator, he could still produce.

However none of them are throwing pick 6's at a record setting pace as the QB. I said it many moons ago, CP struggles at reading defenses, and making good dcecisions from his reads. Gonna take a heck of a coach to overcome that.
December 13, 201015 yr Boomer said yesterday on the pregame show that Carson Palmer should walk into Mike Brown's office and demand to be traded ASAP. Basically said the Bengals had taken a potential Hall of Fame career from him with poor coaching and a terrible OL.
December 13, 201015 yr I hope they extend Carson honestly. I want to see him win an MVP here. Diet Mt. Dew all over the monitor:clap:
December 14, 201015 yr The Bengals have not drafted all that poorly the past few years. For the most part they've made smart picks and taken guys that everyone else had rated just as highly and would have gone within the next pick or two if the Bengals hadn't taken them. The Bengals have failed to develop many of these players. They regularly turn highly-regarded draft picks into everyday, common players. Put that one squarely on the coaching. Mike Brown is a turd, but Marvin Lewis and his staff have failed and failed miserably.
