December 13, 201015 yr I guess they could. Not sure if he has a guarantee. I don't know this as a fact but I think most his guaranteed money is done with. I tired to look it up a few times but could never find anything.

December 13, 201015 yr From CBS Sportsline 13. That does it. Cincinnati must draft a quarterback to develop. You can't win with Carson Palmer. Not the way he's playing now you can't.
December 13, 201015 yr If that is true, he should be released. Today. And who would we put at QB for the rest of the season? Next season?
December 13, 201015 yr And who would we put at QB for the rest of the season? Next season? One of the guys selling beer or hot dogs could throw INTs for TDs. Who cares who the QB is for the next few games, they are meaningless anyway? Get a good draft pick.
December 13, 201015 yr One of the guys selling beer or hot dogs could throw INTs for TDs. Who cares who the QB is for the next few games, they are meaningless anyway? Get a good draft pick. Why? They won't sign him, even though it's a slot system. It'll be a lowball negotiation, which is smart, but not when you don't budge and it hurts a rookies production. He's, whoever he is, is going to get paid millions of dollars anyway, why not sign him and get some production that first year. Get the picks into camp and get them into the routine.
December 13, 201015 yr Saw somewhere that Luck is leaning towards returning for his senior season...With Carolina having invested 2 picks last year in QBs, does everyone believe they'd take him at #1 if he comes out? I could see them trading the pick, or even going a different direction (Peterson, Bowers, Fairley, etc.)

I could see them trading the pick, or even going a different direction (Peterson, Bowers, Fairley, etc.) If Carolina offers Harbaugh the job and he accepts Luck is gone. Anyone who would advise the #1 overall pick in the draft to go back to school is hurting the player.
December 13, 201015 yr One of the guys selling beer or hot dogs could throw INTs for TDs. Who cares who the QB is for the next few games, they are meaningless anyway? Get a good draft pick. I asked a legitimate question. I'd love to hear a legitimate answer. If you cut Carson today, who plays QB the rest of the way? Even more importantly, who plays QB next season? Are you going to draft a rookie and throw him to the wolves immediately?
December 13, 201015 yr I can understand people saying Carson is making way to much money for how he is playing, which I do agree with. However don't you think they would be much better off trying to renegotiate his contract instead of releasing him? People talk about how they hate how the Bengals go get guys with bad characters. Well this guy probably has the best character on the team and you also want him gone now? I don't hear people mentioning guys like Odom, Geathers, Chad, Andre Smith, Bobby Williams, Rivers, etc, and wanting them gone. Those guys are getting paid much more money than what they are playing like too. Yet no one really mentions wanting to get rid of them, to help the Bengals save money. This franchise is run very poorly, and we have a lot of guys who are not as good as what they are getting paid. Once again it is just not our QB. They would be much better off trying to renegotiate his contract, and draft a young QB than release him. Lets actually keep one of our good character guys, and get rid of some of the bad character guys who we also overpay. The sad part of all this, is all of you want the Bengals to start over and have more money to start over. However you are counting on the Bengals to make right decisions on players? This is a franchise who could have had Stephen Jackson, Desean Jackson, Mayo instead of Rivers, Oher, etc. However we chose other guys over them, who apparently all aren't very good. Yet your counting on this team to start over, and make the right decisions this time?
December 13, 201015 yr If Carolina offers Harbaugh the job and he accepts Luck is gone. Anyone who would advise the #1 overall pick in the draft to go back to school is hurting the player. Wasn't Peyton Manning in this situation?

Are you going to draft a rookie and throw him to the wolves immediately? Get all new coaches. Try to renegotiate Carson's contract. Get rid of Chad, TO, Geathers, Odom, etc. Try to trade down if possible. If not take Luck if he is there. If he is not there then get an OL, or DL, and then take Lockard in the second round and go from there. Start Carson next year, hope the new coaches give him new life. Then if not, then you go with the rookie. The Bengals probably won't do any of this, however that is how I would like to see it play out.
December 13, 201015 yr From Yahoo Sports • Carson Palmer(notes) Carson Palmer spent all week talking up former USC teammate Troy Polamalu(notes), then threw a pair of interceptions to him. Polamalu probably stole Palmer’s Head and Shoulders after the game, too. It was Palmer’s pair of interceptions returned for scores (one to Polamalu and one to LaMarr Woodley) that ultimately scuttled the Bengals. Palmer is a middle-of-the-road quarterback who appears to be in decline. And to think … this team started 2-1 and had a lot of optimism before losing 10 straight.

When was the last time a player re-negotiated his contract because he did not earn his money?
