Carson Palmer

How long before the Bengals draft another QB? I think Carson's time is coming to an end. He hasn't been the same since the knee surgery. The year after he was okay but missed a lot of receivers. Bengals OL struggles do not help but he isn't getting it done.

On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him as a 3. I'm not ranting because Cincy lost. He wasn't very good last year either.

He is Jyke and Hyde, he can look so good at times and then throw a pass like that last one today.

If the Dolphin defenders would have held onto the ball he could have had 5 picks today, definately should have had 4.

I did see the replay of TOs ricochete TD. That was pure luck

Sometimes it's better to be lucky because they sure aren't good.

The last pass was not as bad a pass as it might have looked.

T.O. saw a Dolphin defender out of the corner of his eye and stopped on the route.

T.O., being the cancer that he is, can make a quarterback look bad.

This bolded part I will never agree with. 2006 the year after his knee injury, he came right back with a great season and was a Pro Bowler. He looked the same as always after the knee injury. Now if you want to say he has not been the same since the elbow injury, then that I can agree with. People need to stop saying he has not been the same since the knee injury, because if that was true he would not have had a great 2006 season and not bad in 2007 either. The elbow injury is when he has started to look bad on throws, and even decisions.

Palmer is not absolutely horrible, but he is absolutely average at best and this Bengals team is not strong enough overall to survive with an average QB. He is too immobile and puts too much pressure on a line that is itself only average. I am amazed how inconsistent he is with his accuracy from one series to the next. In his defense, however, I think both his "star" WR's have trouble getting separation from DB's these days and both have serious cases of alligator-arms and afraid-to-get-hit-itis. Shipley is solid and is going to make a very good WR. I'm certainly not sold on Gresham yet and I think it's just ridiculous how the Bengals refuse to use him for anything more than a 10-yard route. They will never make intelligent use of a TE as long as Bratkowski is the OC.

Carson has simply lost the edge, like a fighter or a pilot, you lose it your in trouble.

He might have been a pro bowl players. But I'm telling you I saw a difference. The year after he started missing high all the time. I think that is the year the Bengals missed the playoffs because of the kicking game. Then the elbow injury happened and he got even worse. Before knee injury he was a 10. After he was a 8. After elbow he has been a 3-5. 5 being average.

Either they need to draft a QB or switch the OC. Possible both.

Bob Bratkowski is a huge part of the problem. So is the revolving door of an offensive line. Palmer is not "elite", but when he gets time to throw the football he's more than capable.

Some of you all need to realize that it is not easy to go out and just get a QB that you can win with. They can win with Palmer as QB, yes he is not Peyton Manning. To where he can do it on his own, no matter what type of players he has around him. However he is a guy they can win with. He just has a horrible offensive line and probably the worst OC in the league. No doubt the Bengals need to make changes, but Palmer is not one of them. Get a new OC in, and QB coach, and fix the line. Then that should help him look better to everyone, then if not. Then you make a change there.

The thing is the Bengals best bet is keeping him. They are not going to go out and find an elite QB in free agency, or a rookie QB who will be better than him at first. You are right though, with what they have it is going to be hard. The thing is though with the line and the OC they have, any QB will not look as good. Getting a new OC and improving the line are the two things they need to fix first.
