Technically, at 8-0 they are now 20-(-12) (i.e. 32 games over .500) and would end the year at 27-(-12) if they do not lose. 15 wins in 2010 + 12 wins from 2004 - 12 losses from 2004.

Great news!! Even though Mr.Mitchell is playing for the Raiders now, maybe the KHSAA would allow him to come back and play in the opener against Boyle Co. since he missed out in playing them in the state championship game. Sure seems like it's the least they could do. Obviously just kidding!

Here's some fun facts for everyone...

 

Taking these 12 wins into account, through the 2009 season Highlands' all-time winning percentage is 77.48%, while Trinity's is 77.47%... you can't get any closer than one/one-hundredth of a percentage point difference! Taking the 2010 season into consideration (HHS is 8-0 and THS is 7-1), HHS' winning percentage is currently 77.65%, while Trinity's is currently 77.59%. These are the two best teams in KY when it comes to winning percentage, BTW.

 

Also of note, HHS now has a streak of 54 consecutive winning seasons going, which dates back to the 1956 season.

 

As of right now, Highlands is the SECOND winningest prep football program in the nation, behind only Valdosta (GA). Taking these 12 restored wins from 2004 into account, HHS entered the 2010 season with 799 wins, just one behind Male (Male came into the season ranked second nationally in all-time wins). HHS is one-up on Male in the win department this year, which means HHS currently has a one-win all-time advantage over Male (807 wins vs. 806 wins).

 

And finally, Coach Mueller now has the highest winning percentage of any coach in Highlands' history, as his winning percentage is now a whopping 85.8%!

Congrats to the Bluebirds! Considering how similar situations are treated under the current rules, this is the fair thing to do.

Glad that this finally happened. I'll give the KHSAA a :thumb: on this, even if I am unhappy about other things. Maybe this group realizes that KHSAA rulings do not trump a court of law.

As for the ruling, right thing to do IMO.

 

Congrats to the players of that team. They deserved to have those wins re-instated.

While I am happy that we got our wins back that we deserved, the KHSAA can NEVER take back the fact that Mike Mitchell did NOT get to play in the state championship and was advised NOT to run track. I would LOVE to see a figure on how much money the KHSAA wasted in lawyer fees. The KHSAA can return our borrowed wins and they can return the borrowed money, but they can NOT return the fact that Mike Mitchell was not able to play in the state championship.

My question would be, why he feels he is above the legal system? Should never have come to this.
