I witnessed last week as Travis Elliott took perhaps one of the most bone rattling blows ever in a high school game vs. Campbell County. He was limping severely, it appeared that his jaw was fractured, and that he incurred a posssible concussion. For Travis to have even played in this game is an amazing feat and shows the heart of a lion. Unbelievable!

 

Congrats to both teams. Too bad there had to be a losing squad.

SK has been slammed about their offensive line a lot this year, and there have been many quotes about how they are NOT the team they were last year after losing Miles Simpson

and Jordan Hansel. Well, guess what . . . they held their own last night and put up a good fight. Win or lose both teams need to be congratulated

Simon Kentons overtime sequence was PATHETIC. A team that has zero run game outside of their QB lines up in power I, and tries to run a sweep. Awful call. Then again on 4th down you run a route with one reciever. I don't care if Simon Kenton gets the 4th and 4, it was an absolutely horrible call to go for it. Wr #35 was the best player on the field all night so if your going to throw him a ball don't wait till 4th down.

 

Simon Kentons coaches showed zero faith in there Defense whose strength is run D.

While I may not word is as strongly as you I did question the first play. It certainly set them back.

 

The first play shouldn't have been much different than any of the other plays SK had success on but it was and that hurt. I honestly, when I saw the formation..... was hoping for a trick play. SK's a possession team, not a smash mouth football team, I think the play was thought up as a good idea in that "we're gonna run in right down their throat from the 10 yard line", unfortunately SK hadn't really ran it down Ryle's throat once all game. SK wanted to show Ryle something they hadn't seen all game or much on film, but it didn't equate to much, I understand the call, it just turned out not to be a very good one. SK ran the ball effectively, but there was never really a down your throat type drive where SK showed dominance running, although it seemed like they tried to set that up early in the game and didn't look great doing so, they controlled the ball but also came up with no points in the first quarter.

O line still looked not too good at the end of regulation when Lawrence didn't have any time to throw the ball when Ryle only rushes 3, that's pretty bad. SK just doesn't seem to have much speed up front to secure blocks, it seems like every block I see an O linemen make is about half way thru the play after Lawrence has done about 10 laps behind the line of scrimage.

this kid(Travis Elliott) has been a work horse his whole football life. he is a bull and we will support him on the next level too.
