I was close but they didn't pan far enough to the left. Plus we all know who everyone really wants to see.

I witnessed last week as Travis Elliott took perhaps one of the most bone rattling blows ever in a high school game vs. Campbell County. He was limping severely, it appeared that his jaw was fractured, and that he incurred a posssible concussion. For Travis to have even played in this game is an amazing feat and shows the heart of a lion. Unbelievable!

 

Congrats to both teams. Too bad there had to be a losing squad.

Outstanding effort from start to finish by both teams in a game that could have gone either way. Every player laid it on the line and there were some huge hits and chippy play as you would expect in such an intense battle. I guess both teams may have ended up with 3 turnovers so that balanced out. SK had a chance to bury Ryle early but the Raiders hung tough. Chad Lawrence is an amazing playmaker and fun to watch and hard to stop - simply the absolute MVP for SK. Conner Hempel is one tough young man and his running and some key pass completions were the difference in the ball game. The fourth and 12 to Huntley was do or die!! Travis was not at 100% but what a great breakaway run late in the game - I agree with the poster talking about his toughness. It's not so easy to gain nearly 300 yards on the ground against SK. First team in OT has to take points in OT in my opinion because you always have the chance of forcing a turnover and winning the game with a FG. The Raiders really appreciated SK's decision. The win is a good springboard to a possible district championship and homefield advantage in the playoffs for Ryle. Congrats to the Raiders and gotta keep getting better and fighting through so many injuries to starters. Enjoy the win for a day and get back to work!

As someone posted earlier the play of the game for Ryle was the 4th and 12 completion from Conner Hempel to , I think, #8 for Ryle who got the first down by about a yard with less than 2 minutes on the clock.

 

Conner has a nice arm. He puts some zip on balls that you see a lot of HS qb's unable to make. I bet after watching films that the coaches find that the INT that SK returned for a TD was more on the receiver than it was on the qb. The receiver IMO didn't make the right cut - ran a skinny post instead of a true slant.

 

Regardless, the most impressive aspect of his game was his ability to make people miss and then show some speed to the pylon.

Simon Kentons overtime sequence was PATHETIC. A team that has zero run game outside of their QB lines up in power I, and tries to run a sweep. Awful call. Then again on 4th down you run a route with one reciever. I don't care if Simon Kenton gets the 4th and 4, it was an absolutely horrible call to go for it. Wr #35 was the best player on the field all night so if your going to throw him a ball don't wait till 4th down.

While I may not word is as strongly as you I did question the first play. It certainly set them back.
