Probably so, having Elliot in on defense really helped Ryle a few times he's got speed that can really help Ryle contain some plays by opposing offenses that would other wise probably be 6 points.

Can someone please tell me why SK did not kick it on 4th and 4?

 

Coaching 101. When you get the ball first in OT you put points on the board to put pressure on the other team. SK coaches missed that class.

How about Simon Kenton's special teams, I only saw the first half but there kickoffs had Ryle guessing the whole time. Once resulted in an onside kick, once pinned Ryle deep. Any playoff team better be ready for this.

The punter hurt them a couple of times. He had one good punt in the first half but his other 3 went a combined 63 yards.

 

The kick into the ground did befuddle Ryle.

 

I don't think the ball that SK got back was an onside kick. It was just a low kick that hit a Ryle blocker. Did SK actually recover the ball before it went OOB?

I am talking pure kickoffs, they really work on that. After the onside kick Ryle put everyone up and he kicked it over their heads. Yes SK did recover it, someone touched the ball but the kick was so akward and unexpected the kid didn't know what to do.

Congrats to Ryle on their win! BUT . . . congrats to SK as well on the game they played! The Pioneers fought hard and they should be proud!

 

Sorry, I always struggle with these types of comments. Not sure if its just me or should SK to be congratulated for a Loss well earned. JMO.

We had Ryle right where we wanted them, 4th and 11 with a few minutes left and Hempel proceeded to complete the 12 yard pass to Mullens kept the drive going. SK's defense was pretty stingy at times but they sold out to slow Elliott and Hempel made some huge plays for Ryle. The 81 yarder by Elliott was probably the first time in the game he actually hit the second level with a head of steam, you can't arm tackle the kid. Great game for the casual fan, but a punch in the gut if you wear blue, hats off to Ryle, they never gave up and deserved the victory, I hope we meet again.

 

 

 

I think the biggest play of the overtime was the five yard loss on first down. I was suprised to see them in the "I" formation since Lawrence is so good out of the gun but then again you don't draw up plays to lose five yards so kudos to the Raiders. Sure you always want to put points on the board and Herald would have had a great chance at converting but SK was really struggling down the stretch on "d", and I didn't think they would hold Ryle in a ten yard fight so I'm not that critical of the decision, others were not on the same page as I, and I can understand and appreciate your opinions.

Give Ryle credit for never folding.

 

If my memory is correct they were down 10 - 0, 21 - 14, 28 - 21, and 35 - 28.

I agree, we are past moral victories, the loss stunk.

They never gave up, I'm not saying that the play calling was bad or any thing like that but I think it really helped Ryle playing at home. They seemed to never give up or get down and I think alot of that had to do with how big of a game it was and also because of the fact that they just didn't want to lose on their home field.

No. They Gave Up Two!!
