So you must have either been hanging out with him all day or following him around. I was in the stands Saturday and a few SK players took a lap or two around the field and were talking a little junk at the Ryle Varsity players standing with the team. These kids will say what they say to each other and we as adults will never approve what comes out of their mouths just like our parents didn't approve what came out of our mouths as kids. So I am assuming you didn't hear the SK kids mouthing off? That doesn't mean it never happened. If you heard everything these kids say to or about each other, you wouldn't have respect for the majority of them. Kids will be kids.

 

I was neither hanging out with this child nor following him around. I was unloading supplies at SK because we (Summit View) were hosting middle school playoffs at SK. I personally heard what the young man said to a SK player leaving films. At the time, I was not aware of who it was. When I took my children to McDonalds for lunch, this same young man was there. I asked who he was and was told, "Travis Elliott of Ryle". Yes, kids will be kids. As a parent you can only hope that you have instilled good values, good manners, and taught them to be respectful so when they are not around you they will know how to behave. He made a great example for me to explain to the young fb players I had with me, how a great athlete, a good person, IS NOT SUPPOSE TO ACT!

I'm man, SK had chances to burry Ryle...Ryle never gave up and the better team on that specific night won...Glad Ryle's coach finally realized Elliot wasn't the only player on the team...SK fumbled once inside the ten I believe, one ref called the SK player down but then changed his mind which can't happen...Congrats to Ryle on finally giving SK a chance to see what they need to work on, it will help the boys later on in the year...

Still making excuses though, I see. The officiating was bad all around. SK didn't get the short end of that stick. Take the loss and learn from it.

I am too old to play "he said, she said" game. I witnessed this first hand Saturday. Mr. Elliott was in Independence Saturday, he took a spin around the SK campus spreading slander and the continued the disparaging comments at McDonalds(Independence). I heard first hand what he said! It was very disappointing because I keep hearing what a great athlete he is. It's strictly my opinion, however, I believe 100% that you have to be great off the field also!

I agree that Travis should have shown more integrity if this is truely what happened. Even if he was provoked he should not have risen to the bait. It is a shame for a 16 year old to make a mistake in public, but how about the ADULT who points out a child's mistake on an OPEN FORUM for even more people to see to compound the problem. Good job!!! I thought BGP was about high school football not a player's personal lives. I have known Travis for two years and know him to be a very respectable young man. I would gladly let my younger children spend time with him as his work ethics and personality are always (except for yesterday morning, I quess) above reproach. Good luck to Travis in the future and remember that when you are a winner and a great athlete you are held to a much higher standard than others!!!

Ryle made 3 huge mistakes in the first half that should have cost them this game: 1)Pick 6 for an SK TD. 2)Botched punt inside their own 30 that SK hustled and recovered. 3)Messed up squib kick that SK's player made an outstanding play to recover just before going out of bounds to give SK the ball at the Ryle 40. Somehow they overcame their mistakes to win. SK fumbled inside the Ryle 10 to nullify the one scoring opportunity and I think they only came away with 3 points on the kickoff recovery. Ryle blew a golden opportunity, too, when they recovered a kick off fumble at the SK 30. Both teams would like back some blown opportunities and would have liked to eliminate some mistakes. Chad was amazing as always at buying time. No way to cover receivers 7-8 seconds on numerous occasions. Both teams played with great intensity. Great win but Conner is the most important game right now.

If this is in fact true, and I have no reason to doubt you, I'm rather disappionted. Young men will do stupid things at times and open their mouths when they should think first, believe me I know. I hope his coaches stress that being a champion means going the extra mile in the classroom, on the field and off. Humility is also a champions trait. Maybe a little serving of humble pie may be needed.

Why was he taking a tour of SK? This makes no sense and you sound silly.

I'm not naive..... atleast I don't think :lol:. But the refs were awful. How does it take more than a few seconds to call any play, they looked like they were waiting for the replay to make it official, just bad.

Someones upset that they lost. Awh thats so sad. Travis can do what he wants, after all he deserves it after all the trash talk directed towards Ryle. In my opinion I am going to guess this never even happened. Hammer just doesn't know how to take a loss without making excuses and blah blah blah.

The Simon Kenton/Ryle games have always been intense with players talking junk both on the field and off the field. When my son was playing some of the things that came out of Simon Kenton players mouths couldn't even be repeated. Boys will be boys and whether you agree or not please don't come on this forum and bash a player no matter what team he comes from. Please act like an adult.

Agreed. There were some VERY offensive things said by SK players during the game to a couple of Ryle players. Same stuff happened when your son was playing.
