October 1, 201015 yr I make mine with cornmeal that my dad would grind at the mill. I wouldn't sift it, we like the nutty texture it gives. Also make mine in a cast iron skillet. YUM!!! We have a cast iron skillet that is used only for corn bread and never washed. After the bread is done we wipe it out and put it back in the oven.
October 1, 201015 yr Mom used to crumble it up in a glass of milk and add sugar for desert. I crumbled up a big piece of corn bread with a glass of milk Wednesday night. That is good stuff !
October 1, 201015 yr Always make extra, because my husband loves to eat cornbread and milk. He takes the cronbread, crumbles it up in a glass and pours milk over it. Eats it with a spoon. :thumb: Good Stuff

October 5, 201015 yr I like the sweet kind when you get it before a meal, but prefer the non-sweet variety for eating with other foods. Best cornbread I ever had was served at The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge. Same here. Sweet (DeSha's is real good) by itself, but not sweet with soup beans. And the best corn chowder I ever ate was at The Old Mill.
