Cutler is awful. Sanchez not much better. The defenses have made those teams.

Discount JC if you want because it's not like he played a really good team, but Sanchez was money yesterday and for much of this season. I don't think he's ever going to be like Rodgers or Ryan, but the dude can win. They lose the game if he doesn't play like he did yesterday. The fade in the endzone was a perfect pass, in THE key stretch of the game. I'd take Sanchez on my team any day of the week, especially when they let him play. He's not good when they try to go conservative, but most QBs aren't.

Didn't say that. read the post. Fans were thrilled about the '10 offseason because they were duped into thinking this was a good team that needed tweaking to take the next step. My main point is that the 10-6 Bengals were not really that good.

 

Well then how can a team that beat the Ravens and the Steelers twice be not really that good?

Sanchez is extremely talented but way overrated at this point; he is blessed with 2 very good RB's, 3 very good WR's, a very good pass-catching TE, a tremendous OL, and a great Defense; QB's get way too much credit and way too much blame in what is the consumate TEAM sport by the talking heads on TV and radio!!!!

He is surronded by a team with a top 5 defense, one of the best lines in the game, two very good runningbacks, and a receiving TE, and three talented receivers. Not to mention they know who they are on offense, and have an identity. Once again failing to look at the whole thing when it comes to evaluating how good or bad someone may be. I am not saying he is bad, because when he has had to he has made the plays. However we could easily put him on some other teams, and he would look completely different and probably for the worst. What your surronded with, schemes, and all that stuff plays a huge part in how someone will do especially the QB.

 

I said this the other day. You have like your top 5 to 7 QB's in the NFL. Then after that IMO you have about 10 to 15 guys who are all around the same level, and the situation and system they play in will decide how well they look.

Good question. On paper, they improved the offense, did nothing with the D. So the D incurs many injuries, and the O underperforms. I will say the 10-6 season was a fluke. That team wasn't really that good. It showed at the end of the season, and this season against a playoff caliber schedule.

 

I don't know how you can say they weren't good. They beat the Ravens, and Steelers twice as mentioned, and also a very good Green Bay team at Green Bay. Now was they a team that was good enough to be a serious Super Bowl Contender obviously not. However to beat those teams, you do have to be good. I mean its the Bengals for why the Steelers didn't make it that year. If the Steelers at least beat the Bengals once, they make the playoffs at 10 and 6. So it was not like the Steelers was not good, the difference was they for once couldn't beat the Bengals. So they were a good team, but it did hide some flaws like the offensive coordinator.

 

However as bad as they year looked. When you really look at it, maybe they weren't to horrible. They played 9 games against playoff teams this year, another game against a 10 and 6 Bucs team, and another against a Hot Chargers team who was still playing for the playoffs. I believe I heard that out of their 12 losses, 8 came by 7 points or less. So even with that tough schedule, and a horrible Offensive Coordinator, and injuries all over the defensive side. They did still were in almost every game until the end even against the top teams. So there is stuff to work with here, no depends what they do with it. I wish Marvin wasn't back, because he is horrible at game management. However hopefully he does get a new OC in here, which could help. Just like getting Zimmer in here helped the defense.

This one is way off track. I do not think the Gals draft a QB. At least in the 1st round.

Why draft a high caliber QB this year? Bengals are 3 yrs. away from being relevant again. Focus on OL/DL in draft and get serviceable QB's as free agents. And PLEEEASE get a back-up who can PUSH Carson Palmer. Lil' brother is NOT NFL caliber. Until the OL improves, Carson will be chuckin' and duckin' to save his skin. Only a matter of time before the injury bug gets him again...and THEN who do play? Jeez!

Were the Bengals bad this season? Absolutely and they played thee toughest schedule. The games were not blowouts though and they could have very easily won several of them; I would argue that this season was more of a fluke than last season!!!!

 

In reality, it's the NFL and any team can beat any team on any given Sunday and teams have to be on top of their game to consistently win, which the Bengals were not.
