The offense was bad for a half but the defense was terrible all game long. The pass rush was bad once again, and you aren't going to beat the Pats without some pressure. Another tough game on Sunday against Baltimore, hopefully they have a short memory.

Luckily for the defense Palmer threw a pick 6 and the special teams have up a TD or else Brady might have thrown for 400 yards and 5 tds. We have to find a way to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks or we'll be in shootouts all year long.

Brady and the Pats looked like they could move the ball whenever they wanted? Absolutely NO pass rush, and Brady just sat back and picked them apart. Bratkowski is an absolute joke as a play caller--About as imaginative as vanilla fudge--If I can sit and predict the next play, then I'm guessing NFL DC's can figure it out?? He couldn't get another OC job in the league if his life depended on it??? Wasting a lot of offensive talent??

Is anyone else starting to think Sam Wyche here with Marvin Lewis--A very good coordinator who helped turn around the Bengals' losing attitude, but doesn't have the where-with-all to be a great head coach, and might even be in a bit over his head?? Hope this is wrong, but he's the head man and he & his staff seem to be constantly out-coached, and his teams "out-hustled" or "out-prepared"??

I'm not ready to give up on Marvin quite yet but I definitely remember mentioning during today's game not only how much more physical the Pats were being than us, but how badly we were being out coached. I can't stand our offensive play calling but I don't think coaching was the issue with the defense. The Patriots are not the typical team you want to judge your defense with.

I don't know that I agree with the analogy, but the fact is Marvin has been here a long time and not won a playoff game. If they don't go to the playoffs and win a game in them this year, I would dispose of Marvin. His work here is done then.

The Bengals are going to be playing a lot of very good QB's throughout this season. If they don't get more pressure on them, than they did on Brady, it is definitely going to be a long season for Bengals fans.

 

I like TO's comments after the game. Chad played great, 21 for my fantasy team. And thank you to sportsfan because I played Gresham and he got that TD, thought he had two lol.

I'd disagree with you slightly on this. To me, if you'd continue to pound the ground game on first and/or second down, you'd put this team into too many predictable passing situations. I'd rather see them pass first, build a lead and draw the safeties further away from the line of scrimmage...and then be able to give them a healthy dose of Ced. (Similar to what the Steelers have done with Big Ben and their running game)

 

To clarify, I don't think they should be like last season when they were totally predictable. I'd mix it up more for sure. I just think there's a risk in leaning too much toward the passing game and losing their identity as a physical, run first team.

 

The Steelers are the perfect example. They haven't been able to run the ball effectively for several seasons now. They've won a bunch of games by having their defense keep it close and then Ben works his magic at the end.

 

I'd be surprised if Cincinnati doesn't come back in Week Two with a much more physical mindset, committed to establishing the run early and smacking Baltimore in the mouth defensively.
