September 7, 201016 yr What an ending. How did the receiver from Va Tech drop that last ball? Gotta make that play even if he was falling down.
September 7, 201016 yr Boise State deserves their top 3 ranking IMO. I think VT may have been ranked too low as well.

September 7, 201016 yr Final. This early-season matchup lives up to the hype. I agree, it definitely did. I had absolutely no dog in the fight and just enjoyed watching some good football.
September 7, 201016 yr Author I agree, it definitely did. I had absolutely no dog in the fight and just enjoyed watching some good football. I'm with you 100%. VT looked like a deer in the headlights for pretty much the entire first quarter then righted the ship. Huge drive by Boise with under 2 minutes to go where they had a couple things go their way - the no-call on a potential block in the back on the punt return; then the late hit call that got the ball to the VT 13. Good teams take advantage, and Boise did.

September 7, 201016 yr This was a great game, Boise needs to win big against Oregon State and have VT to win the rest of their games to give the Bronco's a shot at playing in the national title game.

September 7, 201016 yr As everyone has said, just a great game to watch. Now Boise just needs to take care of business and hope that VT wins 9 or 10 games to really solidify this win.

Good teams take advantage, and Boise did. Exciting game but neither team looked like world beaters to me. Boise scores 17 points on 2 HUGE errors (a fumbled exchange & a missed blocking assignment on punt). Tech coaches decide to throw on 3rd down when the clock was the most important thing. If they had run the ball it would have taken another 30+ seconds off the clock. Though looking back now it seems Boise didn't need them it was another mistake that was in the chorus of mistakes. The block in the back is picked up. I don't know, it was borderline but the ref who has the best angle throws the flag and another tells him No. That was a BIG play and a difference maker between startiing a drive backed up or near midfield. The "Late Hit" was very iffy to me. The guy barely steps out of bounds but continues to run as if he didn't and the VT kid hits him knocking him out of bounds for sure. Then you throw the flag. Big iffy call at anytime in the game but more so there. In the end, I hope Boise goes all the way and plays a great team in the title game. Then let's see about them. VTech, particularly this time of the year with all they had to replace, is far from being an elite team.
September 7, 201016 yr I had absolutely no dog in the fight and just enjoyed watching some good football. Me either, and it was an entertaining game. But, I'll give my thoughts anyway. I think the block in the back should have been called. JMO FWIW, I think Virginia Tech is a better football team than Boise State. Boise State has a nice team. They return virtually the whole lineup from an undefeated, BCS Bowl winner. In a year where most teams are replacing key losses, have questions to answer, and there's no clear cut, dominating favorite that returns a lot, it's hard to dispute their current rank. If they're ever going to be a BCS-buster, this is the year for them to do it. I won't say that they don't "deserve" anything. I do believe, as most do, that they couldn't hold up having to play a major conference schedule on a weekly basis. Fortunately for them, they don't have to. However, in a hypothetical scenario, if it were left up to me, I'd vote for a one-loss Alabama and Ohio State over and undefeated Boise to play in a title game. I don't believe Boise State could beat either of those teams.
