McCoy needs work too. You never know....Would have been interesting to see him work behind the first line. Do not think he had that opportunity. Gall had a very nice game.

Didn't Gold haul in a long TD pass in the 1st Q? HHS reserves got some much needed varsity game experience. BW will be strong in class A.

And again for the record these two teams need to drop each other. Apples and Oranges.

 

It's one thing to use the game to work on your short to mid range passes. But to take Towles out mid 2nd qtr and then have to bring him back in to throw some bombs just to lengthen the lead is a waste. Why not just keep the kid in there for the 1st half, let him work on his game(which he will need deep in the playoffs), and then give him a break. Doesn't make an ounce of sense to me. I think they missed a perfect opportunity to work on some things and sold the team short b/c he didn't want to hurt Rash's feelings....

I would say the Highlands varsity was 55 points better. Beechwood turning the ball over for defensive TD's didn't hel their cause.

This game was a joke. Highlands didn't look at all fired up for this one. Towles made some nice passes within 20 and dropped a couple bombs. He doesn't seem to have a good read of his targets at times. Alot of wide open receivers that didn't even get a look....He tends to hold onto the ball too long and hence end up too late on the receiving end. I didn't see any designed routes or plays. Didn't see Compton or Sullivan at all. Abner looked either ailing or just not too jacked for the game. Can't say I blame him. This game was much more beneficial to Beechwood. Highlands got relatively little out of this game. Defensive turnovers scored alot of the Birds points. Pass/Run was 80/20. #42 again got great penetration and the H D pressured well. Defensive secondary got burned alot by Beechwood. Not a good showing for them. Another game reminisent of Dixie back in 08' being up by a bunch and Dale taking out the starters way too early. They were still cold when they had to come back in in the 2nd only up by a couple td's. This game dragged on way too long and should've been put out of it's misery with a running clock. Instead we had to suffer through an ineffective 2nd team effort and leave scratching our heads again.......

 

If it was a joke you should have left. I doubt if your feelings were a concern tonight when decisions were being made. Oh by the way Mr. "All Knowing" Compton was injured and didn't play. Your lack of knowledge about the program is very apparent. I'm sorry you had to suffer tonight. Think about the troops overseas before you throw around the word suffer so readily.

Easily. One thing I thought was interesting is that Highlands opened the game with an onside kick. At first, you might think that was poor sportsmanship, but actually, it allowed Beechwood to start the game at mid-field. I think the Birds did get some work in, and the reserves got a lot of that game prime experience that we rely on to keep "the factory" producing.

5 TDs and probably around 250 yards is working the D over pretty good. The 14 yard run weaving his way through multiple tacklers in the 1st half at 3rd and 10 showed his toughness.

I some what agree with Whackem. Put the petal to the metal! There is never a reason for any JV player to be in the game in the 2nd quarter, when your varsity starters who have been working hard since, December, 2009, only played about 15 plays on offense. You get the running clock, then you put in the JV. This years former JV juniors and seniors played about a total of 12 plays the entire varsity season last year. They understand the hiearchy of football. To have to put your varsity players back in when the score gets close, is asking for pulled hamstrings, etc. by them standing on the side line for an hour. Furthermore, it's an insult to them. A victory should be your varsity players being happy, not hacked off. Pad the stats for Towles and company. Towles is being looked at by some serious programs and so are some of his teammates.
