It wasn't directed any anyone in particular. All Highlands has done is start the season 3-0 with big wins against Manual and Beechwood and a victory over Ryle in a game many thought would spell the end to HHS' win streak, despite the program losing one of the most talented senior classes to graduation and playing with a lot of new starters this year. I'm happy with how things are progressing thus far.

 

And I disagree with the comment that Highlands got nothing from this game. Highlands was involved in a very physical, emotionally charged game last week, and this game (against a much smaller opponent) gave the Highlands coaching staff the opportunity to rest some key players who would have otherwise played (and gotten banged up even more) if the opponent had been bigger and better than BW. I don't know about you guys, but I'm hoping (and expecting) Highlands' season to go 15 games this year; 15 games is A LOT OF GAMES to have to stay healthy for. Maybe this was actually the perfect opponent for HHS at this point in the season.

 

Total agreement! But, never underestimate your opponent and it is a great idea to assure the victory with your starters before you put in your JV squad. When Beechwood cut the lead to 19 points, they got pumped up and so did their fans. Least we forget that Beechwood has won state championships and know how to get the job done. Had anyone ever hear of Jacksonville State before yesterday? Also, the Highlands varsity offense played a total of about 12 - 14 total plays the first half before the JV squad came in. As has been pointed out by many a post on this site, starting prior to the season until after the Manual game just last week, there have been concerns and criticisms about how good this team would be this year. There have been posts about the QB, the O line, the backs and the wide receivers regarding their ability and inexperience. Why wouldn't there be posts like that from Highlands fans. They are legitimate concerns. But suddenly, we forget that this years starters were mostly JV players last year, who truly need varsity experience. These are the key players that are going to determine the destiny of the season. Beechwood is a great football program, but if the outcome is 20 more points on the board, and HHS players become more experienced for the battles ahead this season, so be it. Why did the game get lopsided so early? Because the Highlands coaching staff and the Highlands players eat, drink, and sleep football. They practice hard and they play hard.

Yes' date=' we all know this and we all know how important this man is to Highlands football. I have the utmost respect for Dale, but he'd be the first to tell you [b']he isn't[/b] perfect. The comments by posters on this thread have all been constructive in nature. "A wise man is he who listens to counsel; A fool is right in his own eyes. Many posters on here need to take that to heart.

I hear you. There are many posters on here that have never gone to Highlands or even played football for them. Some are running their mouth and they have no clue what they are talking about. It does hurt the reputation of the Highlands fans ,alumni and anyone involved with HHS football . Usually you can tell the knowledgable fans and former players , by simply reading inbetween the lines of their posts. If a person gets on here and talks trash or insults the opposing teams before or after the game , chances are they didn't go to HHS. I know for a fact there are many posters on here that talk about Highlands that don't even live in Ft. Thomas. If that's what "floats their boat" so be it !!

Putting this person in the Highlands camp is your choice only. You really should try hard not to stereotype an entire community, by the words of one person. I mean, one person makes a comment, and suddenly, "it's what people see from (our) program most of the time'" That is truly an amazing leap! :lol:

Every team has a few of those, and often, they are not real fans at all.

On a side note: I thought HHS receiver Gall had his coming out party the other nite and will add to the already deep talent of receivers. Gold and Sheehan have been solid each week and now Gall looked great, how about Eli Schultz? Some say he has the best hands on the team period. Nice to have these problems when you have a QB that can deliver the goods. Go Birds 20n10

The Highlands player that really impressed me in the Beechwood game is the safety, #1. Sorry I don't know his name. He was on the field the entire game and he was everywhere. He looked to be the fastest player on the field to me and has a real nose for the ball.
