It wasn't directed any anyone in particular. All Highlands has done is start the season 3-0 with big wins against Manual and Beechwood and a victory over Ryle in a game many thought would spell the end to HHS' win streak, despite the program losing one of the most talented senior classes to graduation and playing with a lot of new starters this year. I'm happy with how things are progressing thus far.

And I disagree with the comment that Highlands got nothing from this game. Highlands was involved in a very physical, emotionally charged game last week, and this game (against a much smaller opponent) gave the Highlands coaching staff the opportunity to rest some key players who would have otherwise played (and gotten banged up even more) if the opponent had been bigger and better than BW. I don't know about you guys, but I'm hoping (and expecting) Highlands' season to go 15 games this year; 15 games is A LOT OF GAMES to have to stay healthy for. Maybe this was actually the perfect opponent for HHS at this point in the season.

Thx JB for pointing out a very valid and what should be obvious reason for BW being on the schedule. The games against Ryle have always been very physical. Both teams have always come out of it banged up. With no disrespect meant to BW, it was good that banged up Highlands players could be rested the entire game in the case of some and a lot of the game in the case of others. Heck, Ryle scheduled its bye week this past Friday. May be because they realized just how banged up they were going to be after the Highlands game.

I certainly didn't expect the Birds to be sharp this past Friday. Coming off a very emotional and physical game against Ryle and with every one predicting a Highlands blow out over Beechwood, I wasn't surprised at all with the performance. We are talking 16, 17 and 18 year old kids playing a game. If folks expect them to come out 15 weeks in a row and be laser focused and sharp each and every game, those folks are simply unrealistic in their opinions, which of course they are free to express and then be proven wrong (back at you q11 :D). Was glad to see some of the the posters who initially expressed their opinion that there was no reason to play the game and that Highlands got nothing out of it, later acknowledge the valid things you raised in your post. One does wonder why they didn't see those things on their own, but glad they at least figured it out after your post.

It was a nice game to heal up; allow the coaches to point out what happens when you don't play focused, and let some young kids get some playing time. I'll take the win and in my opinion (like your's) we got a lot out of the game.

On to Withrow. Withrow is supposed to be down this year. Didn't check to see what they did last week, but they lost to Sycamore their first week. I'm sure they'll put some nicely skilled athletes on the field who will allow us to improve and test ourselves.

Yea, your good behavior is unbecoming Thunderbirds. I might start stealing your lunch money. : )

Heck I have been whipped, suspended, and expelled in the past. Does anybody remember " The worst offensive line ever"?? Lol.. Keep telling people how you feel Q you'll be fine. You paid a fee to post on here so say what you want.

Was that you that made that briliant post? I'd forgotten. :D

Q11 paid his fee to post; then again so did a lot of other people pay their fee to say what they wanted also. Hopefully all will enjoy the bantering back and forth on opinions and not take it personal.

You have been behaving better as of late. Funny how having a family member on the field and having some better insight into what's going on with the team makes a poster post differently, isn't it? :thumb:

Honestly the bolded part has Zero to do with it. I think the fact that I am heavily involved with the FTJFL the past 2 years has more to do with myself to coach rather than a family member being on the field. But it is Funny!!!!:thumb:

With all the fist's flying amongst fellow Bird fans this past week post BW, I can only wonder what the fans in the surrounding communities think of it all? I have to say, it's been quite a dogfight at times, but I believe the dust has settled. Just think, it's only week #3. I mean, my goodness, Guru has already started a thread about all the drama.....

For what it's worth (probably not much), Highlands' showing against Beechwood apparently hurt them in the national rankings picture. Heading into the BW game, Highlands was ranked 21st nationally by the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings, which is based on a formula. I noticed that they are no longer ranked in the top 25 following their victory against BW. I guess MaxPreps' fancy computer didn't think much of the Beechies laying 24 on Highlands!

I understand that Highlands could do little this year to improve the schedule. I'm sure Dale would've loved to play another Cincy school with the talent he has this year. After looking at the rest of Highlands schedule, it is going to be one beat down after another on into the playoffs. It's a shame that, knowing the talented group of kids they were going to have these past couple years, they didn't secure a top Cincy team or Louisville team. The fans love it. The players love it more. Go Birds.

That's a little bold isn't it....HHS will have to play 1 game at a time!!!
