I'm an alum and former athlete as well, and frankly the "losing feeder kids to bigger schools" line is no excuse for only having 25 kids on the squad. It happened in the mid 90s when I was there, and that never stopped Tassini from fielding a highly competitive and deep roster. I'm not saying getting rid of Lucas is the answer, but it's time to take a deeper internal look in the mirror and working with what is in place to get the program back on track IMO...

Lloyd was AAA from the 1970s until 1990. They were Class A from 1991-1994 and have been AA from 1995 until now. Of course AA today is different than AA five years ago, but still.

I was there in the late 60's Class A from 1965 to 1969, then AA 1969-1973, 1974 to 1990's AAA, back to single A and now AA. The Lions program is land lock and the kids they get from out of district are the ones that go on to Dixie, CovCath, Boone County schools and St Henry. It has alot to do with the resident's of the community and the school it self. As I said earlier they have now started the 7th/8th grade program along with bringing back the freshmen team. It will take time to rebuild this program an without some major changes it will stay where it is. JD

Call me old fashioned but I'm just under the opinion that if a coach has had a ample amount of time and has only seemed to regress maybe it is time for a change.

Lloyd tried a change which at the time seemed to be a great hire. But the demons returned. The program has returned back to where it was before the change. I like Lucas and his style of play but they may have to go with someone else. I am an 86 alum for the record.

They need to stick to scheduling A and AA teams. Build up some success and see if that will bring out the numbers.

This is true and often over looked. Lloyd was a very good program just 5 years ago. If they've dropped off and trying to build back up they really have no reason or business playing a team any higher than 3A or a weaker 4A.

Not all that familiar with the Lloyd program but is the coach involved at all with any youth league in the area? Does he go to the elementary school and encourage the kids to just play football? You say it is land locked, so is Highlands and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Actually, I think that could be a benefit. If you get the kids excited about football in there community and the kids can walk to practice and talk about it in school the next day, it is all good.

Holmes did what they wanted and when they wanted to. The offense played much better compared to last week and the defense was all over the place. I also hope to see Lloyd get back to where they used to be 25 kids on the roster and it seemed like they had five on the sidline on crutches.[/QUO,

SK people need to realize that Holmes vs. SK was a SCRIMMAGE with no film exchange and no gameplan. It was a scrimmage and it was treated like a scrimmage.

For anyone who was at the game, who stood out for both teams?

 

I think that should be talked about a little more than coaching and the staff.
