My good guess is that the Enquirer's article tomorrow on the game is going to say that the game was sloppy by both teams. Congrats to the Birds for pulling out the win. I have a response the the who dates the cheerleader comment, but I'll provide it to you tomorrow morning when I pick you up at 6:30.

Highlands outgained the Raiders 443 yards to 227. Jordan Streeter led the Bluebirds with 11 carries for 115 yards. Towels was 9-of-16 passing for 153 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. Ryle junior running back Travis Elliott carried 13 times for 151 yards.

 

The game might have been big in determining the best team in Northern Kentucky, but it was also ugly. There were four interceptions, two lost fumbles, 14 penalties for 106 yards and a post-play scrap that sent an official to the turf.

I think the news said Elliot still ran for 140 yards or so. I'm thinking they would have liked to shut him down more than that.

 

Considering his stats last week, it's a no brainer.

Parents can't just drop thier kids off at the game and/or just sit in the stands and enjoy the game and let there kids run around.

 

You can't blame the school or blame others for not watching kids. The parents need to step it up.

 

All it takes is some rope or an adult to step in and tell the kids to move on. Do you honestly think every parenr should have their kid sitting next to them at the game? Certain areas of the field where fans are exposed when walking to the bathroom or concession should have an authority figure there to protect the fans. Its just a very tight situation at that stadium and id love to see additional bleachers built at the southeastern end.

There was a guy there trying to keep things clear all night, but he was fighting a losing battle with both adults and kids. I've been going to games at DCHS for 30+ years and that sideline has always been a concern, but the fact remains that it's a relatively small area for the kind of crowd we had last night. To be honest, we're lucky that it doesn't happen more often than it does. I'd also love to see additional seating built, but considering that we only see a crowd like this one or two times a year, I doubt that such a thing would be seen as cost-effective. What happened last night wasn't the first time and won't be the last, but hopefully it will be a long time between incidents.

Sorry about the kid getting hurt. I saw the hit and could tell that it was a pretty good shot.

Congrats to Highlands on the big, big victory! Ryle appeared to come ready to play and actually led at halftime. The Bluebirds' coaches and players seemed to adapt to the situation and pulled away in the second half.

 

Question: I noticed Ryan Ernst wrote that this game was a USA Today game of the week... I looked on USA Today's website and couldn't find any mention of the HHS-Ryle game. Anybody know anything about this?

 

It was quite a crowd at the game last night... probably the biggest of any HHS home game I've ever attended.

Surprised more people aren't talking about Streeter. From what I read, he played very well last night and did a great job running the ball.

It was good to see you last night night with your Dad! jbwill2, SR was/is one of my all-time favorite administrators from high school. With the pre-game celebration honoring the Champions of '60... including my former HC, Roger Walz... the night had a 1975 "feel" to it...except Ryle wasn't around then....:lol:

I sense a "rivalry" vibe from Ryle. CovCath will ALWAYS be THE game just because it has playoff implications. But lately, the spirit that never dies is definitely on life support.
