Hicks To Trinity

Featured Replies

Or is it simply the reason they want everyone to believe on which their choice is based?

If I were the Hicks family I could care less what "everyone" else believed as to why they made their choice. He's not draining public money by trying the "bona fide" move thing, he's sitting out and if I were the family and anyone asked I would say: "We left Shelby County's school system because we felt like it." Freedom is a beautiful thing.

My feelings exactly. My wife got a chance to meet Hicks' mother when our schools played each other in the regular season and was one of my wife's favorite basketball moms she met last year. I wish them nothing but success in the future and for him to sit out a year to play at Trinity is commendable. I will say that I think that if was a senior they would likely be fighting to get him to play this year. It is a lot easier to sit out knowing you have 2 full years left but it is still commendable that he chose to sit out.

blah blah blah it is what it is.

I figured you would have your standard "he's supposed to be in the grade ahead anyway" retort.

It's a different world today my friends. The only thing missing is the ESPN special for the annuncement.......

As I understood, Hicks' family was looking at Trinity coming out of 8th grade with Quick and Hatcher but ended following the Levitch kid to North Oldham and it didn't work out. I don't think this was an "out of the blue" decision and now the kid is being forced to switch schools anyway because of Collins opening.

I don't think the Collins opening had anything to do with it. He wouldn't have played at Shelby last year if things had worked out at North Oldham. The living arrangements just didn't work out for him on a personal level, so he returned to Shelby. I don't think he had any intention of returning to Shelby (or Collins) this year.

You may be correct. I just had heard that the family had seriously considered Trinity coming out of 8th grade.

It was actually on ESPN the Ocho.

I agree with one of the posters above. I think this shows how important the AAU circuit have become. This kid doesn't even mind sitting out. It's easy to get eligible these days, find an address in Louisville and move for a while then move back home, simple. But it's like, ah just sit out play AAU ball lift weights I got a schlorship coming to me anyway.

It just hit me who this kid is now! Wow!
