When did Trinity become the standard for academics in Jefferson County? There are at least 2 more private high schools in Louisvile with as good,if not better student results than Trinity.Everyone needs to look at the obvious!

They should just call them TheVille aau team lol. Maybe the Levitch kid from North Oldham and Prewitt from MC will look for better academics for a hefty price.

 

As I understood, Hicks' family was looking at Trinity coming out of 8th grade with Quick and Hatcher but ended following the Levitch kid to North Oldham and it didn't work out. I don't think this was an "out of the blue" decision and now the kid is being forced to switch schools anyway because of Collins opening.

With Hicks, Hatcher, and Quick, they will be extremely tough to match up with when those guys are juniors.

 

Hatcher is going to focus on football and weightlifting only from here on out.

I have no idea what the kid's academic capabilities are but if he's not an academic superstar IMHO there isn't a school around that does a better job of getting kids (with whatever academic skills they possess) to graduate AND achieve the ACT score to play D1 sports.

Are there a lot of problems with the dividing of Shelby County High School into two schools? Have heard and read nothing but negativity from the get-go. How do people feel about things in that area? On a lighter note, don't see how anyone would want to play for a high school named Martha Layne Collins, sounds like an all-girls school.

No one waits two years to transfer for academic reasons. There is nothing wrong with transferring for athletic reasons. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I guess his playing with the Derek Smith All Stars (Trinity All Stars- Foster-Saxton, etc) probably didnt play into this either.

 

Its academic at this point that the kid will get a D1 scholly regardless of where he plays but I do get a kick out of all the quotes by the families about academia being the main reason. Like Preachit stated, just be honest and say that he wants to play for a Trinity team that will be loaded over the next few years and it gives him a great chance to get to Rupp Arena and play for a State Championship.

He left once already for similar reasons, but the living situation simply didn't work out.

 

Is the athletic side also a factor? Without question, but the academic side is simply miles better at Trinity and that was the main factor. They know how to prepare kids for academic and athletic success at the next level and they do so in that order. Win, win...

If the tone of your post reflects the attitide of the other schools you refer to, maybe that is exactly the reason the family chose Trinity.
