He looked very good throwing the long ball..He looks like he just flicks the ball and it goes 50yds. Throws far and accurate with very little effort. He needs to work on throwing the screen though. I would say he had over 300 yds passing for sure.. Young Mr. Towles is going to be a good one no doubt..

Agreed, I know he picked up 30 lbs in the offseason but he looked the same in pads and has a very strong arm. He is very mobile and smart. He knows when to tuck and run and also when to take a sack. I would expect him to be in the running for Mr. Football as a Sr. next year. Especially if he can put up some sick numbers this season.

Not sure if this will work or not, but this is a montage of Compton's early TD from my end zone spot. The camera was in burst mode, so the pics aren't great (and I'm no Guru,) but I thought it gave a pretty good idea of the moves he made to get the ball in the end zone.

Notice that in the last two pics, his helmet is on the ground.

My thoughts exactly. Hey I'm one that thinks that everyone in FT. Thomas,, if there is a football game, then you should be there. LOL! In the past, no way a scrimmage gets this much attention. I was overly surprised with the student turn out. That was great. And if you put the people on around the field because of the sun and heat into the stands, then it's full. Great game by both. Lots of excitement. Go Birds! 20n10.

Yeah, tell me about it. It's a shame that they are under contract with the local bottler. They don't have the luxury of going to the grocery and picking up a case of water for .20cents a bottle and for a bigger bottle. It is a rip off all across the board really. Oh well, maybe we can get a new score board out of them. The bottler that is.

. Some knowledgeable HHS fans have been saying for the past few weeks that HHS will go through some growing pains this year, and the scrimmage loss seems to prove this. Go 'Birds!

 

I have to comment on this. It was a sweat bowl out there last night. HHS starting DBs, one missed the entire game the other missed most with cramps. Maybe the best DBs in the state, from what I have seen and I am knowlegeable. The offense put up 42 points, probabley 400 yards passing, #25 ran like a man, and the last drive two of their starting receviers gutted it out with cramps the entire drive. Taking nothing away from Trinity because they are a class program and yes won the game, but to hop off the band wagon is not what HHS fans should start doing. They ended up 40 yards short of the end zone on their last drive against one of the best 6A teams in Kentucky.

He was quoted in the Enquirer as having grown one inch and having gained 40 pounds. 7 meals per day.

They get that screen pass down to go with the deep routes and that is going to create some nightmares for defenses.

Both...I would say it was pretty equal...

For what it's worth, Rick Broering has a write-up of the scrimmage on his NKY Sports Blog (apparently, a more detailed analysis will be posted today). He indicated in his write-up that both teams played the game as if it counted.

 

Also, could it be that Highlands was substituting a lot on defense (and playing guys who would not normally play) because the "regular" starters were getting sliced and diced by T's offense? Maybe Coach Mueller and company were actually trying to get the right combination of guys out there to stop T's offense and win the scrimmage, as opposed to playing a ton of guys just to see how they would handle a game situation?

 

It sounds like a nice crowd showed up, which is great!

 

While I'm positive Highlands wanted to win this scrimmage (and what high school team playing last night didn't want to win their scrimmage?!?), the Highlands D coaches were substituting early and often. This was to see these guys in action in a game situation, not because there was "slicing and dicing" as you have termed it. And based on what I saw on film, the Trinity D was doing the same. I'll be surprised if either team gives up this many scores during a regular season game.

Nice Job Trinity! Imagine if this could be a state title game.

Trinity better tighten up the D or Lawrence North (2300 students) will win big. They are as good year in and year out like the big Cincy teams. The same for the St. X (Lou) game.
