I am curious how the JV and Frosh did in their abbreviated games. I saw Donovan McCoy playing QB for the JV and he looked fast. Its too bad he isnt used on the Varsity Defense. He was arguably the best frosh player i saw in Nky last year as a freshman. He led the team in tackles from Mlb spot and played QB. There has to be a spot on that defense where he would excel.

Is McCoy number-2 on the HHS QB depth chart, or is another player (like Seidl)? If he's number 2, I guess I can see why he would want to spend all his time preparing for QB (look at what happened last year). If he's not number 2, I would think he would want to get some varsity playing time at some position (LB), especially since he's just a sophomore!

 

Didn't Clay Cecil play LB or DB before his senior year? That seemed to work out pretty well for him and his teammates!!! Heck, I seem to recall that he even played some defense his senior year, while Tony Guidugli was QB'ing... maybe during the Trotwood-Madison game?

According to the pre-season preview in the paper this morning, he is the backup, and Jared has been working with him, as well as Patrick Towles.

I heard the same thing but the kid needs to realize that unless Towles goes down he wont see the filed at the Varsity level until he graduates. It is what it is, Patrick has the edge at this time and unless he totally flubs it which I doubt, he will be the backup.

 

Donovan is 6' 170lbs but he is fast, aggressive and the type of athlete they need on the field.

I wouldnt go as far to say he isnt a team player but I am surprised to learn he would have turned down a spot at LB at the varsity level. Maybe he just truly wants to hone his skills at QB and if he is allright playing JV and waiting in the wings then so be it.

Actually if it is really hot I bring my own water. I don't want to drink alot of water or soft drinks there because I can't stand the restrooms. On any given Friday night you will see me running home just after the game.
