July 20, 201016 yr Did anyone else think Cueto got squeezed all night by the umpire? I can't remember the last game I watched where the umpire missed that many calls based on the strike box graphic. I kept yelling where was that one? And I was right to ask because it seemed like every time they put that up on a borderline pitch that was called a ball, the pitch showed up right on the edge of the box. I think all the Red's young pitchers get squeezed. That stuff about pitchers having to earn a strike is ridiculous. A strike should be a strike whether its Roy Halladay or Mike Leake pitching. It gets real old seeing the old veteran star pitchers getting both sides of the plate and young pitchers getting squeezed like they do.
July 20, 201016 yr Here's hoping Rolen isn't headed to the DL but it's looking more and more like he will be. The Red's are 6-11 without him in the lineup and can ill afford to be without him for an extended period of time. I thought they said he was sick. Apparently not.
July 20, 201016 yr I thought they said he was sick. Apparently not. He has the Flu, but also has a hamstring issue that he described as "feeling like there is something in my hamstring." He wont be out long term and give it a day or two especially since he just received a cortisone shot yesterday. Rolen will be back and ready to take the Reds to the playoffs!
July 20, 201016 yr If the playoffs started today, it would be the Braves vs the Cardinals and the Padres vs the Reds. I am going to come out of left field and say this season is like 04-05 when the NLCS featured 2 NL Central teams. I think the Reds and Cards will be fighting in the NLCS. The more and more the season plays out the more and more I think these two teams are elite in the NL. If you look at it, the Phillies are slumping and I don't know if they will recover. The Mets are the Mets and if meaningful baseball is to be played in September, they choke. And maybe it's because I haven't gotten to watch the Braves or Padres I'm not impressed. But I just don't see those two as that much better. Also the 4 teams that are in the NL West race play each other a lot in Sept. That leads me to believe they will only get one team in. The Mets still have many games left with the Braves(10) and Phillies(12), while the Cards and Reds will only beat up on each other for six more games. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but like I said, I truly think that the Cardinals and Reds are of the most talented teams in the NL.
July 20, 201016 yr Buddy just got some free tickets for tonight somehow...guess I will be going to the game tonight and tomorrow.
July 20, 201016 yr Sounds like Rolen is headed to the DL, but it will be retroactive. He should miss 10 more games. I wonder if they'll bring up Francisco, who has been swinging a hot stick lately in L'ville. I'd imagine that Miguel Cairo will be the 1st option at 3rd...
July 20, 201016 yr I will be in attendance at the game tonight. Hoping for a win. I was originally supposed to be in the Great American box for tomorrow's game but I guess one of the higher ups in the company realized Strasburg was pitching tomorrow and said he wanted the box. :irked:
July 20, 201016 yr My bad, I meant. Orlando Cabrera SS Paul Janish 2B Joey Votto 1B Jonny Gomes LF Jay Bruce RF Miguel Cairo 3B Drew Stubbs CF Corky Miller C Mike Leake P
July 20, 201016 yr ^ Can we get that lineup tomorrow too? Nevermind. Let's just pray that Phililps isn't hurt.
July 20, 201016 yr I heard somewhere earlier that the team has to decide what to do with Matthews jr. Evidently he has to be promoted by Saturday to the big league club, or be released. What do you all think they will do? Will he be up and Nix sent down?
