Arroyo's was a close game. Completly different situation. He's a major league athlete, I doubt being on base 'gassed' him

 

What game were you watching?? In the 2nd he singled and was on base while Phillips, Cabrera, Votto, Gomes and Bruce all batted. In the 6th he singled leading off, went 1st to 3rd on a hit by Phillips and stood there while Cabrera, Votto and Gomes batted. In the 7th he walked on a 9 pitch at bat and was forced at 2nd by Phillips to end the inning. In the 9th he singled and stayed there while Phillips and Cabrera batted. Have you looked at him lately, he looks physically like a average size high school kid? Now when do you suppose he got any rest during the game? He never did get a break and you are going to tell me he wasn't gassed? Get real.

I didn't know standing on base took so much out of someone. I'll have to remember that next time I'm standing in line for something. I'll be sure to take a seat.

 

At the very most he ran 180 feet at a time. He's a professional athlete, I don't think you realize how good shape they are in, especially pitchers. In the scheme of things, him standing on base did very little, if nothing.

After doing some research I think we can all agree that John Fay is to blame for this loss. Check out this beauty right in the midde of his blog tonight.

 

 

Leake also went 3-for-4 with an RBI. He was the first Reds’ pitcher with three hits in a game since Bobby Livingston did it July 16, 2007.

The Reds clinched a winning road trip. They are 6-3 over the trip with two games left. The Reds improved to 50-38 overall. They didn’t win their 50th game until Aug. 13.

Obviously you never played the game or have any idea what a pitcher normally does during this time of year while in between innings. Most pitchers in that heat and humidity change their uniform jersies several times during the game and most tell of losing 5-8 lbs over the course of a game just pitching. They have to make sure they consume plenty of liquid just to keep from becoming dehydrated. To be on the bases even if just standing around doesn't allow them to do this. Like I said get real they are human not robots. Enough said on this as I refuse to argue the point anymore with soemone who obviously doesn't have a clue on the subject.

I know, don't worry. Sure its nice to be able to sit down between innings but to think being on base is a huge deal is just plain wrong.

This is a bad loss, the kind that starts losing streaks. Thank God for the All-Star break.

 

Same thing happened to the Cards 2 nights in a row. I was sick.

I feel like Math tonight. The worse loss of the year IMO. I'm just sicked and tired of Choke O. I NEVER feel comfortable when he comes into the game, and I know I have one more year of watching it.

 

I concur with every word.

 

It's trouble almost every time he comes into the game. He has become more of a liability than an asset.

Cordero is garbage. He has the stuff to be dominating and we saw that last year. The problem is he pitches scared and doesn't go after hitters and get strike one...

 

That's is why i said they shouldve left Bronson in the other night when he ONLY had 99 pitches. Tonight was a perfect time to pull Leake after the lead off guy got on and put in Ondrusek. He has been throwing great lately and we could've saved Bray and Rhodes.

 

I know it's easy to look back now, but that was my whole point when I said that a few days ago.

 

Not much you can say about Dusty though because he has these guys playing great baseball right now and they are fun to watch. A lot thought they were done after the Braves game, but they have played just as good since and I'm not worried one bit that this will effect them the rest of the season

I said the same thing last year, when Albert beat them with a slam in extra innings. Few agreed with me at the time. But unfirtunately that game was the turning point last season, and unfortunately I got that same feeling last night. It was definetly a crushing defeat, one that could be marked as defining game in a season.

I'll give you that on the team playing great baseball and they are fun to watch. They do seem to play well for Dusty and when they talk about him they seem as if they like him. He certainly deserves a lot of the credit for that. I will continue to say though that Dusty has a problem in the critical times of a game in making the quick decision; leave a pitcher in or take him out; put a runner in motion; squeeze bunt; hit and run, etc., etc., etc. That "IS" what he gets paid to do like any top manager in any company. You have to be able to make the tough decision on the spot. The really good managers seem to handle this part of the game. I think Dusty fails miserably here. Let's hope that the Red's braintrust can sit down over the break and put the pieces together for the second half of the season. It would be nice to be able to go to a game in September that means something.

Didn't the same thing happen to the Cardinals just a couple nights ago?? They Reds will be OK.

No way you don't have a lefty ready to face Dodds. Dusty plus Cordero just blows to many games for a contender.
