Did Rose cork his bat?

Featured Replies

Rose is a genuine piece of scum. I'd be shocked if he didn't cork his bats, use excessive amounts of pine tar, and any other banned activity to give him an advantage. The fact the city of Cincinnati is so in love with him is sad IMO. I'm glad Bud Selig has a backbone and is keeping the loser out of the Hall of Fame.

This has genuinely surprised me.

And pleased me as well.

Who Cares!!!!!!

At 85plus MPH, you still have to put the bat on the ball. Something most of us on here can only speculate.

But of course Willy Mays, Babe Ruth, and Jo DiMaggio NEVER cheated...

Ruth's performance enhancing substances were hot dogs and beer.

There is no way of knowing whetherthis is true or not. Anyone who ever recieved one of his bats could have just gone ahead and corked it. If more of these bats start to emerge, then I'd say look into it further. Also, somebody pointed this out before, but he obviously broke a bunch of bats in his playing days and never used cork then. Dumb luck? I kind of doubt it. Not to mention though, what kind of moron would give away evidence like this to someone?

I am reading his book, about halfway thru. He loved his Dad. Didn't do well at school at , even he says he should have been on some ADHD medicine. But boy he loved to bet on ball games/horses and we are talkin some huge bucks won/lost.

Is the book, "My Prison without bars?" If so, I have read that as well and definitely enjoyed it.

^ My kind of guy. :thumb:

Joe Morgan strongly defended Rose on the Reds broadcast last night. He said his locker was next to Rose's in their time together and there is no way he used a corked bat then. I don't think Rose would gain anything using cork. The way I understand it, cork helps power hitters and that was not Rose's game at all.

True, but it could be argued that with 746 career doubles, Peter Edward may have gotten a little bit extra to burn a few outfielders with.

As hard as Rose ran the bases 150 of those were probably infield doubles.

If he used a corked bat I would imagine it would have come later in his career as his youthful athleticism began to wane when he and Morgan weren't on the same team. But that's just a complete guess. I hope he didn't use a corked bat, for the record.

I do not believe he used a corked bat -as stated by others on here, he really would not have much to gain. Kinda related though - did anyone hear that Tracy Jones talking on WLW telling the kids how to cork both an aluminum and wood bat? He also said it is posted on their blog. I never had much respect for him before, but now telling the kids and encouraging them to cheat!!!! Loser is all I can say.

Not to mention bourbon an Ginger ale for breakfast.
