May 2, 201016 yr I like Noble's Promise and Awesome Act. I was really high on Endorsement, but with the injury I am having to jump off the WinStar Farm ship. I'm almost certain that I went to high school with one of the owners of Noble's Promise, had no idea until I saw him on tv today.
May 2, 201016 yr So on TV they interviewed a guy who put 100k on the winner. What did he walk away with? $900,000
May 2, 201016 yr But beautiful weather for the Great Steamboat Race... which I guess is as good a reason as any to go down to Waterfront Park, drink some beer and eat a load of fried food at the Chow Wagon. Haven't really picked my favorites for the race yet. With finals over my head, I haven't spent as much time looking at the field as I would like. I will make this prediction though: Todd Pletcher will remain oh-for-lifetime in the Derby. Bad luck, Todd, I just don't see it happening this year. How's that crow tasting? Hope you washed it down with a little Woodford. Edited May 2, 201016 yr by rockmom fixed quote
May 2, 201016 yr So I had to 3 bets. I had 4 to win, 10 to wps, and 2 to wps... However, in my stupidity I didn't tri, tri box them, exacta, exacta box any of them them. Don't ask me why.. I walked away up 100 but could of been up much much more.
May 2, 201016 yr How's that crow tasting? Hope you washed it down with a little Woodford. It tastes like it always tastes... unpleasant. Never should have counted out Calvin Borel's ability to get to the rail and run the race he wants to run. I think next year's plan has got to be to have one jockey just knock him clear off his horse if he tries to get on the rail and take the DQ for the team. It seems to be about the only shot anyone has. I'll be out at the track on Thursday to continue honing my incredible skill to be completely and utterly wrong.
May 2, 201016 yr Let's keep things in perspective in here as it relates to Borel. Prior to his first Derby win on Street Sense in 2007, the best he could do was an 8th place finish in 2003. I think the horse's he has ridden have a little to do with his recent success. He has gotten much better mounts since the retirement of guys like Pat Day, Jerry Bailey and Gary Stevens. I do hope he can win the triple crown, but this will be an interesting dilemma for Pletcher. Does he bring back Eskenderya to challenge Super Saver in the Preakness or Belmont? I am sure Eskenderya's owners will have some say on this one.
May 2, 201016 yr I'm almost certain that I went to high school with one of the owners of Noble's Promise, had no idea until I saw him on tv today. I know 3 of the owners personally here in town. One is a close personal friend of mine that put up a $1000.00 for a part of history.
May 2, 201016 yr My sister in law went to the derby yesterday. She came home and double checked her tickets today. Seems she hit the Derby trifecta yesterday and didnt realize it! Some people have all the luck!

Borel has been the difference in the past two derby's. He's one of the best, when riding at Churchill anyways. He doesn't take a backseat to anyone in the Derby.
