March 30, 201016 yr What do you base the above on? My guess, both need another year. Don't see either getting drafted this year.
March 30, 201016 yr I would love if Big Cuz came back but his stock isn't going to get any higher than it already is. There is really no point for him, PPat, or Wall to come back. Bledsoe and Orton are another story. They both need another year. Absolutely. I completely agree. They are good players, not doubting that. But they are not NBA ready.
March 30, 201016 yr In all reality, the money will still be there next year. Probably more if player development, maturity, and experience all lead to higher pick. If you really love being at UK and are having the time of your life. STAY!!!!!!! The NBA is a job (a pretty good job to have, but still a job). Add money and some of the fun will go away. Be a teen ager while you still can.

But if you have a chance to make millons of dollars, you jump on that opportunity. The money is not always there as you stated. It cost Leinart millions of dollars. Whether he ever admits it or not, that has to sting a bit.

March 30, 201016 yr "I think five of his players will." - C.J. Leslie I didn't hear the quote, just what you posted above. But, could he be talking about the # of open scholarships? Krebs, Harris, Stevenson, Wall & Boogie.
March 30, 201016 yr I didn't hear the quote, just what you posted above. But, could he be talking about the # of open scholarships? Krebs, Harris, Stevenson, Wall & Boogie. No, he was asked the direct question: who do you think will leave UK for the NBA?
March 30, 201016 yr My guess, both need another year. Don't see either getting drafted this year. Thanks. I don't think the "need another year" always plays into those making the drafting decisions. I would agree that both would benefit. However, my guess is they see mock drafts and hear what they want to hear and stay in the draft. My guess is that in their mind they are at most 2-year college players. What's waiting for them at the end of their 2nd year? That's right. Potential/likely NBA lockout.
March 30, 201016 yr In all reality, the money will still be there next year. Some money will be there, but the NBA situation throws everything up in the air right now. 27th pick money could likely be 10th pick money when it all shakes out after the lockout...

I don't think the lockout is going to have that big of an effect on the salaries for the draft. It has more to do with max salaries and the amount of years on contracts. Teams can get away with missing on a 10th round pick and when it is all said and done they are out 10 Mil or so. It's guys like Gilbert Arenas who have 5 years left and is owed 83 Million or Rashard Lewis is making 110 Mil over 6 years. You won't see contracts like that after this is all said it done. But you are right to a degree.

Plus you just don't know how negotiations will go and how much of the 1st round pick guaranteed money will be impacted. I'm simply pointing out how much of an unknown it is for the next draft, and if you get a 1st round spot this year you basically grandfather youself in to the old system...

Indeed it is going to be really interesting how this all shakes out.
March 30, 201016 yr When you are talking about Orton and Bledsoe I don't think it is going to be that much of a benefit for them to go this year and be late rounds picks when they can stay anything year and likely be top 10 or top 15 picks but as we said who knows about the money structure. Right now the difference in the 10th pick and the 25th pick is... 10th... 1,807.1 1,942.6 2,078.1 27.5% 4th Year Option: Percentage Increase Over 3rd Year Salary 36.2% Qualifying Offer: Percentage Increase Over 4th Year Salary 25th pick 896.2 963.4 1,030.6 80.1% 4th Year Option: Percentage Increase Over 3rd Year Salary 46.9% Qualifying Offer: Percentage Increase Over 4th Year Salary
