March 30, 201016 yr Wall and Cousins and possibly PPat would be crazy not to go imo. Wall is gonna be first so there are no way to raise his draft status. But if he did come back and won a NC and broke some records then he could possibly go down as top point ever, like he said he wanted to be known for at the beginning of the year and keep true to what he told his dad. Cousins is going to go top 4 no matter what, possibly number 2, and for a big man that is as high as he will go because there are a guard coming out every year that the NBA is going to take instead of taking a big man (more than likely but nothing is 100%). PPat, imo, is at best a top 10 but not near top 4 because of his position and type of playing. If he goes this year or next he will be somewhere 5-10. Bledsoe and Orton could cut their draft pick in half or more if they stay one more year. Bledsoe will go top 30, somewhere between 20-30 and be on a decent team so therefor he isn't going to play significant amounts and going to be like Jodi Meeks is this year. He stays one more year and Wall leaves then he can flourish and show his talents and be in the top 10 by next years end. Orton could go from 20-30 pick to possibly top 10 if Cousins leaves and he keep improving and playing with the heart he has been all year. I look for him to be something special until he does decide to declare. If all stay and Knight comes then UK is ridiculous next year. If Cousin, Wall and PPat leaves and we get Knight, Leslie and the others then we will be as good or better team than this year plus more experienced. I think if Wall and Cousins leaves then next years team looses that "Go To Guy" and that may become an issue unless someone steps up.
March 30, 201016 yr Someone made a good point over the weekend about Calipari's philosophy. This guy thinks it would be wise to sign 1-2 one and doners and then sign 2-3 solid contributors that can be stars for 3-4 years in the program. In other words, he thinks Calipari should do what Pitino used to do. Bring in an Antoine Walker, Ron Mercer and Jamal Mashburn - but make sure you also have Travis Ford, Anthony Epps and Scott Padgett types, as well. Anyone agree/disagree? Agree that this is a great way to run a program. The difference in Coach Cal is he brings in the tops one no matter who else is interested or how long they will stay and sees what happens for that year. But then again don't you think that Pitino would also sign two Mashburns :notworthy:or two Walkers:popcorn: in the same year if he could and see what happens even is he knew they would leave the next year. :dancingpa
March 30, 201016 yr Per his Twitter... jdemling C.J. Leslie corrected me when I asked a question about guys leaving UK. "No, five are going." jdemling To clarify, C.J. Leslie was NOT talking about seniors leaving.
March 30, 201016 yr jdemling To clarify, C.J. Leslie was NOT talking about seniors leaving. Then what the crap was he talking about?
March 30, 201016 yr Per Twitter jdemling They look at you like, 'You didn't know that.' RT @smosswkyt: Several with UK on their lists say Calipari insist 5 Wildcats will be leaving.
March 30, 201016 yr Um obvioulsy 5 guys going pro. Slap me, I'm an idiot. I completely misread that last post.
March 30, 201016 yr jdemling To clarify, C.J. Leslie was NOT talking about seniors leaving. I was debating that with a friend a minute ago. I know Coach Cal mentioned in an interview a while back that we shouldn't be surprised if we seen 5 or 6 new faces on the bench with some familiar ones. That means to me that he will be letting some go and keeping quality. I love the sounds of this. I'd say some of the ones that never seen the floor this past season won't be seeing the locker room this next season.
March 30, 201016 yr Slap me, I'm an idiot. I completely misread that last post. :ohbrother: There ya go... haha no.. good stuff Hangman it had me twisted too.
March 30, 201016 yr There has been some scuttle that Patterson and Cousins could return. Of course, this could simply be based on emotions right now but it's something to take notice of. On Cal's radio show today, he said he told the players to "not go to the NBA this year if it's for the money." Of course, different situations are in play involving Bledsoe and guaranteed money for him with troubles his family seems to be having. How monumental would it be if Cousins and Patterson both returned? Additionally, if you're going to post a reply saying "it's not gonna happen," etc, then don't mind even doing it. Obviously there are reasons a player wants to return. Not everyone is enticed about money like others are. Wishful thinking. Need to worry about learning how to shoot free throws and three-point shots and fundamentals.:thumb:
March 30, 201016 yr Ahhhh funny how it is I got blasted about a month ago for saying Bledsoe was first round material and would end up being similar to Ty Lawson.
March 30, 201016 yr Ahhhh funny how it is I got blasted about a month ago for saying Bledsoe was first round material and would end up being similar to Ty Lawson. I still don't see the Ty Lawson comparison.
March 30, 201016 yr Did'nt Cal say that he abandoned the DDO early on once he realized what he had with Cousins and Patterson? I think Miller was put into a roll of a shooter and thats not his game. Sure he can hit from outside, but his game is to get to the 10 to 15 foot range a drop that soft jumper in. Just my opinion any thoughts?
