I watched Compton play last year on JV and he does not look like a HHS RB. He looks like a guard...however, i know you Birds fans are going to say "his speed and size is deceiving"....but I think he looks like a NG. sorry

 

I didn't think he played much rb last year, I thought he was pretty much a linebacker only. Shows how much I pay attention. I did see him the other day and he's looking pretty strong.

No need to apologize. You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to assign the weight to your opinion that I think it merits. :D

Highlands will end up with 3 RB's (Compton, Streeter and True) who would play for almost any team in NKY. Not saying they are better than Elliot or Kelly, but they are all 3 quality HS rb's. I think Highlands running game will be as potent as any in NKY next season. No one back may rush for more than 1200 yards, but I could easily see them having 3 or 4 go over 600 + yards on the season.

 

The question is can Highlands offense be as potent at the WR position as they were this year. I know they have Gold, and some fast young recievers, but replacing Drennen and Buton may be more difficult than many think.

As long as the receivers have "Highlands" speed, then they will be fine. With Towles lofting it up, the Bluebird vertical passing game will put up their usual numbers as long as the receivers can run it down.

 

On the backs, how does the rotation look like it is going to go? Is Compton the starter?

You are in a much better position than I, but from what I have seen I don't believe Hayes going to be better than Kelly at any point in time.

I'm not saying that he will be next year. What I am saying is that Kelly plays both ways, and in my opinion is a better LBer than running back. Hayes will spell him and he will not see as many carries as last year. Additionally, I believe that you may see (and I have no proof of this, just a hunch) Hightchew as a RB next year and not the QB.

Highland has always impressed me with their receiver's ability to get seperation and until there's a set of db's that can control them, they wil continue to be top of NKY.

In Spring ball, Compton got a lot of carries and was a starter. Not sure that necessarily means that he'll be a starter in the Fall, as he is a very fine LBer also. Streeter looked very good also and held onto the ball much better than he did last season. All the RBs did. Bishop looked very good also at times as he was getting re-acclimated to football. True also looked very good running the ball. The Birds will have at least 4 very talented RBs carrying the ball this Fall. They will have a very nice mix of power and speed running backs to choose from to fit the situation and need.
