At our home games myself and some other retired teachers and coaches like to sit behind the benches on the visitors side. A few games, Montgomery Co, Lexington Catholic, and Scott Co we did not sit there. They all brought big crowds and out of consideration and courtesy to them we all sat elsewhere. Felt it was the right thing to do.

Is it arrogance wanting to host the best Regional tournament at the best high school venue to have the tournament. If so, Guilty. Tomorrow night there will be 5000 screaming people packed to the gills who just can't wait the the horn to go off at 25:00 minute for the players to take the floor. The hair on your neck will raise. What if this game was at Montgomery? BOK? There would not be 3000 at BOK arena for this game. This game draws from everywhere. After tomorrow night, I really don't understand how people could want to have this at anywhere else. I am from Mason and is biased, but I am also a big basketball fan in general and this is where it should be.

 

Did you attend the tournament last year at BOK? When's the last time you attended a game other than the Fieldhouse? Just curious seems like you've tried all the venues so far and prefer the Fieldhouse. I have also tried them all and I would rank the Fieldhouse tied for second with Montgomery.:isurrender:

I really miss Fleming Co. being a part of the 10th region. Being of a somewhat older generation the 16th still does not do it for me. With that being said I really enjoyed traveling to the Ellis T. Johnson Arena on the campus of MSU and watching our regional basketball game (other than the $5 parking). Although I have witnessed some great games at the hallowed Fieldhouse, it did not take away from the experience in the least, and in fact I did not miss the Fieldhouse one bit. Just would have rather been watching 10th regions teams.

If you aren't cheering and it is just you, you probably are the problem the rest of these posts are about.

 

We are all talking about the logistics - a team's cheerleaders doesn't need to be cheering to a student section sitting behind the opposing teams bench. That is just rude! Each team deserves it's own space for the cheerleaders, band and students and they shouldn't interfere with the other team fans, team, band or cheerleaders.

 

I am sure if this happened at other locations, Mason County would complain as much as the rest of us are complaining. Right now it seems as if Mason County would defend every aspect of the tournment regardless of whether it made sense or not.

I hate to argue, but the administrartion of a host school has the authority to ask people to move during and before a game. I would agree that if you are just sitting and watching the game and not causing an issue for other fans, then you would probably be left alone. I really think the issue is with student sections. Should Mason students have been behind PC bench. Answer is NO!!! Pendleton Students should have been behind bench, but your Mason Co. folks did not want to move the Mason County Faithful, and they weren't going to seat the PC students next to their adults. So you got what you saw last night. My thought is that if it is truly a neutral site, then move the Mason fans over with you and let Clark have the home side if they are wearing white. Locker rooms really don't matter.

Actually I saw the administration at Lexington Catholic move the Scott County student section twice at LC. They wouldn't let them sit behind the LC bench OR across from them, they ended up sitting in the upper arena.

Yes, I can see that they can make the student section move but what I was saying is that so many Mason County faithful(the adults) sit in the same seat every time and the administration can't really do anything about that. The principal can't go over and tell them they have to move to the other side like he can the students.

The Mason administration can and definitely SHOULD enforce the student sections based on who is the home and who is the guest.

If Mason sits on the bench closest to the stage, their student section should be behind the bench. If GRC sits closest to the stage, the their student section should be behind the bench.

It is asking for a lot of trouble not to fix this for the championship game.

Agree with everything you have said. :thumb: Hope the hosting school takes the right steps today, and manages the tourney the way it should be for ALL involved.

The seats would be better, the food better, definitely cooler as it will be an oven tonight, and what can one say about the restrooms at the Fieldhouse. For everyone talking about Mason fans sitting in the same spot every game. If it weren't for the kind folks from PC getting up and moving to the other side after their game with Montgomery, they would have had to sit on the visitors side. PC fans had the whole side top and bottom filled. They then moved to the other side for the Mason and Brossart game and I don't think it was to cheer for BB. Also about the students behind PCs bench, did anyone see the kids in the band come down to the rail and blow their horns at the bench during time outs? And Mason faithful still say there is no home court advantage. :ohbrother:

GS, they probably won't be answered simply because they don't have to be would be my guess. At the draws for these tournaments, there is a time period that these questions are open for discussions and no one brought up about the home team issue and where the seating is for this team and that team. Your school officials are present at these draws and have ample opportunity to explore your questions but they don't. Therefore if its not brought up or voted on, then things don't change. You should attend a draw sometime if you really want to voice your concerns.

If you purchased your ticket in advance and you "could buy them at your school", they were $6.00, $8.00 at the door!
