Concessions at The Fieldhouse?

Featured Replies

All the administration can do is put up signs telling the Mason Co. faithful where to sit. But like has been said many sit in the same seat every game so therefore they will still sit on their same side. So if you put up signs telling Mason Co. fans to sit on the away side you will probably ending up having a mixture of both on each side and that wouldn't be a good situation at all. I know me, I always try to sit on the front row on the away side. I don't cheer too hard, and it has just always been my favorite seat in the house. It doesn't matter what team is the away team that is where I am going to try to sit.

Which is the home side during the regular season - team bench side or the other side?

The team bench side.

I am not behind the scenes but the problem is the location of the cheerleaders. Both schools are under the basket on the stage end of the gym. Student sections for the cheerleaders on the left half of the backboard have their fans behind that bench while cheerleaders on the right hand side have their fans across the court. Put the cheerleaders on opposite ends of the gym and each schools cheerleaders be where the team is seated.

Were you at the coaches meeting to know everything that they decided?

This is according to one of your own fans that stated he was at the meeting.

I understand this. But the problem is the student cheering sections placed behind the opposing teams bench. This needs to be addressed before the final on Monday by the Tourney staff. I am sure it won't be, they want every advantage they can get.

I can guarantee than the Mason County administration is following exactly the decisions that were made at the coach's meeting. And believe me, Mason County fans would rather sit on the other side because its larger and the view and access is not obstructed by the benches.

Will never happen. I sat on that side for the first time ever during the girls tournament and it was like night and day. Too many set in their ways over there.

Exactly, If there are no concerns from the Coaches or other school admininstration, the tournament will run as drawn.

35 years in a row, the reason you have complaints is that now people have been other places and realize the palace on the hill is not the only place you can play the 10th Region Tournament. I agree with you it is a great place to play and wonderful atmosphere, but the arrogance of your school staff in thinking they are the only ones that can run it is just being noticed.

Is it arrogance wanting to host the best Regional tournament at the best high school venue to have the tournament. If so, Guilty. Tomorrow night there will be 5000 screaming people packed to the gills who just can't wait the the horn to go off at 25:00 minute for the players to take the floor. The hair on your neck will raise. What if this game was at Montgomery? BOK? There would not be 3000 at BOK arena for this game. This game draws from everywhere. After tomorrow night, I really don't understand how people could want to have this at anywhere else. I am from Mason and is biased, but I am also a big basketball fan in general and this is where it should be.

NO they are not. Pendleton Co should have sit on the home side last night, not Mason Co fans. According to the brackets set up in the coachings meeting the upper bracket is the home team.

They don't have to. They knew well in advance where yhey would be sitting and a simple ask to switch and it would have been done. It has happened before. Mason would rather be on the Home bench. Have you ever thought that maybe the opposing team what's Mason to feel out of their comfort zone just a little. I will promise you it will not be changed without an request because the tournament managers are a stickler for the rules.

Mason sit on the other side for years until a several years ago. It was a very difficult change. At the beginning the of next year they posted a sign of the switch and the Mason peolpe figured it out.

Yeah right, If this is such an advantage, I am sure your coach od AD has already requested a change. It is a pride thing that the other school should not ask of just a everyting is Mason's problem and they should fix it. Remember, Mason's head dogs is not rocking the boat without someone asking. To me the request is just common sense.

So let me ask you this, if they are such a stickler for the rules, GRC fans will be sitting behind the benches tomorrow night? They are the home team according to the brackets and the rules? Right?

I disagree. I think the tension that has been building between these two teams would make for an outstanding championship game at the BOK. GRC would empty Clark County. I think if the championship game was played at the BOK there would be 7000 strong. I had thought about coming up tomorrow night but I do not want to drive that distance to be turned away at the door.

This thread is so entertaining!! The Mason Countians should have gone to the last two tournaments with the intent of gathering ideas so they could be more successful when they were the hosts. But it seems as if they stayed home and pouted, and now that others are bringing to their attention the nice things about the other tournaments, they are are offended.

I would love to hear even one Mason Countian admit they could make improvements. I will give you that the gym is a nice atmosphere for games - but the rest of the details of the tournament certainly need tweaking. God gave you two ears and one mouth for reason - listen twice as much as you talk. I don't think anyone is saying it can't be done right, they are just wondering why it isn't done right. Think about it and see what you can do to improve it next year.

Sumoroyal you clearly need to remove yourself from this conversation as you are very very biased. There is no way in the world you can claim a better arena. Not even taking that conversation its so far from reality. If the fieldhouse is at capacity and you say it wouldn't be at NKU then that simply means the Mason fans do not travel well. Several friends and I would love to attend but will not be able to make it but I assure you that you would draw a lot larger 'non-playing audience' in NKU than at Mason. Mason's lack of travel should not become a problem for the other teams in the Region. Great program! One of the best if not the best in the Region and certainly ranks up there with the best in the state. Just stating the facts according to your comment.

Also, if you are the tournament host it is YOUR responsibility to ensure the tournament is ran according to the agreed upon rules. Not stating that I know them, just saying it is their responsbility. Yes opposing coaches have a chance to voice their concerns but at the same time the host school should go out of their way to make this a non-issue. That just common curteousy and being prideful of the tournement you are hosting. Maybe Mason has held the title so long that they have become a little lax? Dunno, just saying their is now a better venue and it is time to move it.

Bottom line is this:

2008 Mont Co Hosted-Champ Mason Co

2009 BOKC Hosted-Champ Mason Co

Best team should win tomorrow night no matter what.
