Concessions at The Fieldhouse?

Featured Replies

I do not post a lot and really am a nuetral observer when it comes to the fieldhouse and the NKU arena. Having watched mulitple games at both locations the past few years there is no comparison. The NKU arena is much nicer, more comfortable and the concessions are not even close. Yes, they are a little pricy but I am not forced to purchase anything. As for the individuals that have said you should eat before the game, well I have in both locations and found the Northern Kentucky has a lot more to offer than in Maysville. I see a lot of Maysville people claiming your arena is by far the best atmosphere, and after sitting thru two regional tourneys in the last two years I have to respectfully disagree. Its not even close. I would also think the kids would enjoy playing in NKU's arena and then hopefully RUPP. Wouldn't that be a cool thing to experience as a High School player?[/QUOTE]

I agree, but some are not putting the kids first.

Sure hope the Mason Co adm that is running the tourney does something about seating the teams. Scotts cheering sections was put right behind the GRC bench tonight. I sure hope they don't put their own cheering section( Mason Co) behind GRC bench for the finals, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Believe that GRC will be the home team Monday,( upper bracket winner) but don't see us getting that side of the gym. This is MASONS home side, don't see them sitting on the other side, I could be wrong, but don't think I will.

I have never seen this as an issue at NKU's arena. Students sit in the endzones and the rest of us old folks can buy seats on the sidelines buy our overpriced concessions and enjoy ourselves. LOL

Yeah but this is a High School Tourny that should be played in a HS gym. I liked the atmosphere at Mason Co and Mont Co better.

I guess then using Rupp is out of the question as it isn't a HS gym? :idunno:

You will see me sitting on the other side, front row actually!!!:D

Rumor has it that Blue Licks State Park will be getting a convention hall/arena. Heard capacity will be around 9,500. Insiders said possible name could be The Buffalo Trace Center at Blue Licks. Anyone else heard about this? Could this be another option for the 10th Region Tournament?

Goldie, if you are indeed the Home team (via the Brackets), GRC should be allowed to use the home team locker room and sit on the home team bench.

Mason County is only hosting the Region and if indeed GRC is the home team, they should sit on the home bench, be the home team on the scoreboard, use the home team locker, and their fans should be sitting in the home section of the gym.

Mason County or any team that is hosting a regional tourney is only the host, and has no more right to being the Home Team than any other team, unless they are the home team via the brackets!

Thanks for the info, thought I was right. Lets see if this happens and the tourney is run as it is supposed to be.

Not talking about who will win. Talking about running the tourney, and what is right and suggestions on what needs to be fixed.

I know you will. I know Mason Co prides themselves in hosting the tourney. In this thread there are some valid points that I hope the Mason adm. that is running the tourney will take notice of.

A few Camel fans made the caravan ride to the Fieldhouse again tonight. If the site is truly neutral, then as someone posted the Pendleton Fans should have used the home team locker room, the home bench, and fans sat on the home side. Well I guess if you get one out of three then that is a win for the opposing team if you are playing Mason.

This is simple, any idiot should know that you don't put the opposing students behind a team. I think the days of the Fieldhouse and its staff are fading away.

During my school days in the 16th region we played the regional tournament my freshman year at Boyd Middle and then the AAC was built at Morehead (showing my age). My remaining three years the region was held at Morehead St. AAC and has remained there. My point is, from a playing experience there was NO comparison. :thumb:

Mason Co sit on the vistors bench last night. The Benches are set by the draw. The tournament managers will not change this unless requested by the home team. It has happened in the past. The idea of having the home team dress in their Mason locker room is really a good idea. It connects to the Coaches office and then Mason can listen to their game plan.

Mason hosted the Regional Tournament for approximately 35 years in a row and there has been more complaints this year than probably in the other 35 years combined. The cost to get in, the benches and all of this stuff is discussed in the Regional tournament meeting. Your school voted on these issues. I have been to several of these meetings and I have new heard any Coach ever bring up the benches and the cheering section behind them. At Montgomery Co and other places home fans sits on both sides due to the chair back seats. After the last two nights and the lond awaited Mason-Clark matcu-up on Monday, I still for the life of me do not understand how people don't think the Fieldhouse is the best venue for the best Regional tourney in the state. I will go out on a limb and say this will be the best attended tourney in the state. People complain but come two hours before gametime to get a bag of popcorn and sit on the front row. It will be a "slobber knocker."
