Who has represented UK best in the 2000's?

Featured Replies

Wow I was looking at that starting lineup. We had

PG- Blevins

SG- Fitch

SF- Bogans

PF- Prince

C- Estill

Then you had guys coming off the bench who were good. That team should have been so much better than what they were. The one thing that held this team back was the pg play IMO.

The year after Prince left was our best team of the decade.

Hawkins

Fitch

Bogans

Hayes

Estill

Daniels

Barbour

I know it was. It was done by most of the same players on the team, except for Prince being gone. So that was my point, that team should have been much better than what they were IMO. I believe they were a 4 or 5 seed, and lost to Maryland in the sweet 16. That team had the talent to be better than what they were though. Pg play in Blevins is one of the reasons why they didn't do as great IMO. I was never big on Blevins at all. I think they would have been better off doing what Tubby did the next year and having Fitch play the point on that team, and have Hawkins still be the backup pg to him and Blevins barely playing.

It took Tubby a whole year to figure out Michael Porter Sr. couldn't play???:sssh:

Blevins graduated, so it was not like the next year he decided to bench Blevins. However as I said, I do think Tubby messed up having Blevins be the starter that year. That team should have been much better than what they were, and that is one of the reasons for why they weren't IMO. From 2000 to 2002 Tubby did a poor job with the pg position, since we had guys like Saul Smith and Blevins starting during that time.

I would say Prince or Patterson. Prince because of how great he was at UK and Patterson because of the hustle, effort & especially sacrifices he has made at UK. He was suppose to be the "Savior" at one point, but he has always shared the spotlight and excepted a lesser role. Patterson is UK basketball to me. He is what I think alot of people feel Hayes was, I just like Patterson better personally because people don't over-rate him as much IMO.

Who overrated Hayes. I don't remember many people saying or acting like he was a great talent and just great basketball player. His work ethic, his leadership, and his toughness is what people loved about him and what helped make UK a winning team when he was here. All those things about him definitely were not overrated at all. Patterson has these same qualities, but not as much as Hayes IMO. Patterson in his career definitely at times didn't seem like he always put his whole heart into it on defense, and I don't think he is as much of a leader as Hayes was. Talent wise though, Patterson definitely has Hayes beat.

Ill take all three , and start a team and take my chances with them !!

Chuck and then Pat in a close second. Both have been and continue to be the definition of an ambassador for UK hoops.

I'll go with:

1a. Hayes

1b. Patterson

2. Tubby Smith
