March 3, 201016 yr Who overrated Hayes. I don't remember many people saying or acting like he was a great talent and just great basketball player. His work ethic, his leadership, and his toughness is what people loved about him and what helped make UK a winning team when he was here. All those things about him definitely were not overrated at all. Patterson has these same qualities, but not as much as Hayes IMO. Patterson in his career definitely at times didn't seem like he always put his whole heart into it on defense, and I don't think he is as much of a leader as Hayes was. Talent wise though, Patterson definitely has Hayes beat. Well I didn't post on here then so I can't say that anyone on here did. But, alot of the people I know in my area did. It was all I heard and it made me form a huge bias against him. Still liked him because he's a 'Cat, I just got sick of hearing about him. I like him in the NBA though.:thumb:
March 3, 201016 yr Blevins graduated, so it was not like the next year he decided to bench Blevins. However as I said, I do think Tubby messed up having Blevins be the starter that year. That team should have been much better than what they were, and that is one of the reasons for why they weren't IMO. From 2000 to 2002 Tubby did a poor job with the pg position, since we had guys like Saul Smith and Blevins starting during that time. He had Rajon Rondo in 05 and 06 and managed one eilite eight appearance and yet another horrible season. What was his excuse in 06?
March 3, 201016 yr My favorite player was Tayshaun Prince or Erik Daniels but I think you have to go with Chuck Hayes.
March 3, 201016 yr I find it very difficult (read: impossible) to vote for Patrick Patterson when he has never even played in an NCAA tournament game.
March 3, 201016 yr My favorite player was Tayshaun Prince or Erik Daniels but I think you have to go with Chuck Hayes. Erik was the best athlete I ever saw that ate at Long John Silver's every day and rode a moped.
March 3, 201016 yr All Chuck Hayes did was win. If Bogans doesn't get injured Hayes would more than likely had a National Championship. and Tubby would still be coach...
March 4, 201016 yr He had Rajon Rondo in 05 and 06 and managed one eilite eight appearance and yet another horrible season. What was his excuse in 06? Dude I wasn't really even defending Tubby in this case, and yet you still want to find away to continue this.
March 5, 201016 yr It also depends upon how you define "represent". If you mean it as who has gone on to have a good career, it is easily Prince with Rondo just behind him. Hayes was a fan favorite. How about Bogans? When I think of "represent", I just think of people who kept their nose clean, played hard, and dedicated their time to the University. That list is a large one filled with many names which people do not like to hear because maybe the were just average guys on a roster (Woo, Stockton, Carrier, Thomas, Perry, etc.). I would say a combination of all those factors...with that in mind, if I had to select just one player, I'd go with Chuck Hayes. He was a glue guy on teams that played their way to back-to-back #1 seeds. Never any trouble or drama around him. He seemed to be a coach's dream as far as attitude and work ethic. And, his four year stint was the high point of the Tubby era aside from the title in year one. It was definitely the best stretch UK enjoyed in this decade. There are plenty of other good options though. Its a matter of preference.
March 5, 201016 yr Dude I wasn't really even defending Tubby in this case, and yet you still want to find away to continue this. Just asking a question. :idunno:
