2012

Featured Replies

I know this will spark alot of conversation. I am non stop hearing about December 21, 2012 as being the end of the world. I try not to listen to people talk about it but everytime I hear something about it I have to listen. Some of the theories they are talking about seem so real and on the other hand some seem so ridiculous. Do any of you but this? Or is it just bull. I mean one of the theories is the world will end due to earthquakes. And how many big time earthquakes have we had recently, including the one today, MANY. Just something to think about.

What makes this year "2010?" Aren't those just numbers put on years by the church many years ago in an attempt to recognize the date of Jesus birth? And to add to that, further research has proven Jesus was likely born around 5 BC. And what about the 10 days that disappeared in 1752 when Britain switched to the Gregorian calendar?

Bottom line, 2012 is a random number assigned to a year that goes back to a random starting point. It is absolutely nothing more than that. As for the earthquakes, they have been happening forever and will continue to. The biggest difference is, as with many things, there is much more media today to discuss these occurances.

If you believe in God/Jesus Christ and you have tried to live a good life, you have nothing to worry about. Isn't that what we Catholics/Christians what, to be one with God our Father and Creator! So why worry about something you have no control of.

Honor and praise the Lord our God and treat your fellow humans being as you would want them to treat you, honor your Father and Mother, love your wife, take care of your children.

The above are the things "In my humble opinion" you need to worry about!

Well said. And of course the Bible also speaks of how even Jesus doesn't know when the world will end. So if you want to view it in a religious sense, then you can't even begin to guess when the earth will end - and shouldn't.

The whole 2012 hype is a bunch of hooey. The Mayans never predicted it to be an end. There is no scientific support of it being any different than any other solstice that has - or will - occur. There is no rogue planet 'hiding behind the sun' that will kill us all.

Earthquakes happen due to plate tectonics. There is nothing about an approaching winter solstice that would increase their frequency or strength. Earthquakes...and strong ones at that...have been occurring ever since our planet solidified.

We'll said also. I'll add though the Lord said "Be on watch"

It's not the end of the world...its "The End of the Age".

No big deal...let's move on.

For those that like to say that 'it's the end of the Mayan' calendar and why didn't the calendar keep going....so it must be the end of the world' I say...my last calendar ended on December 31, 2009, but the world didn't end!

Are you saying UK loses to UL that day?

We have many dates previously scheduled for the "end of the world". I am still here writing this, so I guess I'm still waiting for the right one.

2012 is the biggest crock I've ever heard.

...anyone remember when Y2K was going to be the end of the world?

I wonder what kind of doomsday warnings we'll have to look forward to in 2013?

Watch The History Chanel (Prozac Network) for an hour or so and you will have discovered several different ways the world will end.

Yes I do. I just read something on that. The experts said the world was supposed to end in 2000 due to technology. They said the world is supposed to end in 2012 due to much bigger and larger things that we cant control.

Which cannot be substantiated or backed up with any real evidence, just perpetuated by twisting and manipulating various ideas and predictions. The Mayans never said the world would end in 2012, these so-called scholars are the one's saying, "Well look at this...they stopped so it must mean the end of the world."
