The sighs of relief from everyone on Dec. 22nd at 12:01 AM combining together across the world creating a massive hurricane of doom? :confused:

 

Plain and simple, some are going to believe this stuff, some are not. I, personally, do not and have provided just some of the reasons why I don't buy into it.

I for one though, like I have tried to point out, am not necessarily saying I believe something is going to happen on Dec 21st of 2012, but do feel it is possible for something to happen somewhere around that time frame. To me its more about the time frame then it is the actual date.

I for one am just someone who is fascinated by the theories and someone who has his own opinion on the subject and thinks its possible for "something" to happen. Not saying that something is the end of the world, but I do think its feasible for something big to happen right around that time period, a period we are getting close to.

You've yet to list the REAL scientists that have given their support to the 2012 hype.

 

First you ask for the prophets or those who brought about these predictions. I give you some of those. Now you want the exact scientists by name. No matter who I list you will still argue or find ways to dis credit. Like I have said I just have an interest in the subject and like pointing out the theories and those behind and backing many of the theories. It's not like I am just trying to make all of this up, I have spent years gathering facts about the 2012 phenomena, but to make you happy I will supply a list of scientists who back some of the 2012 theories.

 

What will you want listed next that way I can go ahead and be working on that also?

It looks like you are covered either way. If something does happen (which it won't), you can say that you thought that it was interesting and that something 'might' happen. If it doesn't, well, you never outright said that it would. Sounds like a 'win-win' situation for you. :thumb:

I'll admit, I found it a bit interesting until they started shoving it down people's throats. The occasional show was fine, but to create a whole series (The Nostradamus Effect) and then a movie....> :deadhorse:

Through education. Go to any college level science course and it shouldn't take you long to figure that out. In case you didn't know, many high level people in the scientific community are atheist or have no belief in God. Science has almost everything to do with fact, while religion has everything to do with faith. Most scientists are only interested in what can be proven. There is a lot about Christianity, or any other religion that cannot and will not ever be proven.

 

 

IMO God is science. He is the driving force behind nature and that that happens in nature. He is the creator and he is the controller. Again just my opinion. BUT, many non believers will always search for the exact reasons why some things happen, and how they happen.

You should be able to back up anything that you say. Don't just throw out there that 'scientists' support it, without having anything to back it up.

I would like to add another thing that irritates me. This 2012 hysteria has even caused some to claim that they're going to commit suicide just before the Dec. 21, 2012. They have stated that they do not want to be around to see the horrific images of the world coming to an end.

 

Now, these people probably have some underlying psychological problems, but it shows what this kind of hysteria can lead to.

I have more than 60 college hours in science courses and most certainly did NOT come to that conclusion. My beliefs in science confirm my beliefs in God. It is the same for many of my colleagues.

 

You really shouldn't state something as FACT when it most certainly is your OPINION. There is a difference.

Hey man if I was looking for something to want to be right about, I could pick many things. This is just an issue that fascinates me. I never claimed to be a prophet, I don't ever want to try and say what God may or may not do. I'm not just trying to cover my basis. What I am just trying to get through and say is that I feel strongly in my Christian beliefs that no one will know when the end will be. However, do to researching the 2012 hysteria, I do feel there is a high probability of "something" happening "around" the time of 2012. What that is I have no idea, but I feel it is just way too much of a coincidence for so many cultures/figures to share similar views when they all come from such diverse backgrounds. I mean its not like the Mayans and Hopi just got together one day thousands of years ago and planned a hoax for today's modern times. Its not like Edgar Cayce gave 2012 readings because he wanted to mess with people. It is just things that have been forecasted by some people/cultures who have also forecasted other things to have happened.

 

 

Just because your opinion differs from mine doesn't mean you have to try your hardest to discredit me or make me look bad. It's not like my entire life's interest is wrapped up in this, its just a topic I enjoy hearing about. I'm glad you have a history and science degree, it brings a lot of education to the discussion. However, you do not have to keep insinuating you know more than me, when really it is just because I have a differing opinion than you.

I do have things/people to back it up, just because I don't have dozens of scientists names and their takes on the matter off the top of my head doesn't mean anything. I told you I would list some of these names, and I am going to.

If you would have read the post towards the top of this page you would probably realize me and you more than likely share the same belief when it comes to God and science. Secondly, you mentioned your educational background, so I thought that I would include mine. I didn't mention it first, so feel free to believe in any insinuation that you want to. It certainly seemed to me that you mentioned it to lend credibility to your belief...which I do find fascinating, as you are the only history major (or person with a history degree) that I know that gives ANY credibility to the hype.

 

Again, I'm not going to sway those that like to believe in hype. However, I am going to discredit anything that anyone posts that is not true or has been twisted to try to support the 2012 apocalypse idea.

However, as much as you want to argue the fact based on you and your colleagues, a majority of the scientific community is prognostic or atheist.
