March 2, 201016 yr Edgar Cayce...this was the first that I had heard of him, thus it has taken me quite a while to find out about the man. Sadly, I will need to continue that research, as none of the sites that I have looked at show any connection specifically to 2012. Three of the seven sites that I have been at so far specifically point out that none of his 'predictions' have any ties to 2012. Yes, he does the whole 'doom and despair' bit; however, I have yet to find a tie-in to 2012. I'll keep looking and update if I find it.
March 2, 201016 yr This part was left out of the original post. It would seem, then, that according to this survey, more scientists DO believe in God than those that do not. This is why I always do my own research and don't simply let what others say influence my beliefs. According to a survey done by Rice University in 2004 (which is still on going). This is the only survey I have found that has that low of numbers and it is still at 38%. Other surveys had shown significantly higher numbers. It seems as if now, as we have entered more chaotic times, more scientists are believing in a higher being, but past surveys and findings have indicated that many scientists were known to be non believers. The 1998 poll that indicated 75+% of leading scientists in the National Academy of Sciences were non believers is pretty substantial IMO. Fueling my assumption the further into science one is, the further one gets from God.

As far as Cayce you may not see anything directly hinting 2012, but it is known that his doomsday type readings were targeted to this time period. Cayce wasn't just a doom type predictor either. He was known more as a healing type than anything, diagnosing many with illnesses that were discoverable by doctors at the time. The weird thing about Cayce is that when someone would try to use him for a reading to gain profit, such as the location of certain treasures, or for say a lottery type gain, the readings would not come through clear. However, when used for good purposes, his readings would be super accurate. Cayce is a very fascinating individual, and someone we Kentuckians should be very proud of.

Anything beyond that is speculation. (Goodnight all...I'm not finished, but am out time for the evening.)

What time period? This decade? Century? How is this known?
March 2, 201016 yr What do you mean by the bolded? What time period? This decade? Century? How is this known? This time period, as in right now. Cayce's predictions often indicated a time before now, like a generation or two after his. Although he didn't suggest actual dates, it appears his predictions may be ten or so years late. Others say this is the time frame (the years around 2012) that Cayce referred to by using such and such generation or whatever. His predictions of a doomsday type situation are gaining steam because of the others who have came to light as we get closer to 2012. The so called experts who say it may have been meant to have happen ten years ago are now saying it could happen anytime, or Cayce knew something would happen around this time. There are over 300 books written about Cayce, so there is a lot of information floating around about him. The most interesting to read IMO is the ones that deal more with his reading predictions, and the outcome of many of these. By the end of his life Cayce had stockpiled file cabinets upon file cabinets of readings that he had done. I will try to find a link to somewhere that may just outline a lot of his readings, then the outcome of whatever that may be. From a lot of stuff I read, and also reading expert interpretations of some of his readings, his predictions of cataclysm seemed to point to the time we are in now. I'm not going to say much more on the subject, but I will close it off by just a short summary of how I feel about it. I have far more posts in this thread than I ever intended too, but it was all in good fun. Basically what I have been trying to say, or stand up for this whole time is simply my opinion. An opinion based from a shear fascination with the theory, and an opinion based on the things I have read about the theory. My honest belief is that I am not trying to say the world is going to get whipped out around Dec. 21st 2012. I'm not trying to say that at all. I have strong Christian beliefs, and The Bible teaches no man but God will know the true outcome for our world. However, with the way society has evolved, I feel (with help of the many 2012 theories out there) that it is very possible for something to happen around the time (years before or after) 2012. There is just way too much coincidence that has to be involved for this to be simply one big coincidence. There are a lot of individuals, as well as cultures who place their self on the line with this. It's not like people would just make these predictions to be funny, or for the heck of it. They were made more famous for predicting outcomes right. Many of whom I noted did predict things to be right, some with scary accuracy. So if they can predict something like that, on different subjects, at different times. Then why is it not feasible for them together (without communicating each others idea) to have all predicted the same thing, especially something that is supposed to be so earth altering? Honestly, that it what peaks my interest the most, is that several creditable projection sources have detailed major catastrophes to happen in the time we live in right now. Throughout history you hear stories of being forwarned but not trying to do anything about something. So is it not possible for something to happen just because the majority thinks it won't? How many times will something have to be just a coincidence before something big finally happens? Just think for a second how different the world we live in right now is compared to how the human race has known to live life before us. It is a crazy thing, the things that are acceptable in today's society are things that would have you killed just hundreds of years ago. It seems as if things have just started to swirl endlessly out of control all around the world, without sign of ever correcting things. No one can honestly say that they think there will eventually be peace in the middle east. Global warming type problems, over population, a decreasing low quality of life value, all of these things just seem on the constant problem list without a resolution likely. I mean at some point you have to think how long the earth will continue to evolve like this before something happens? How far is society going to go? Do you honestly think we will all be driving around in flying cars several years from now? No one knows, and that is the fun part about the idea. Add those thoughts with that of predictions of impending doom, then you have to at least think its possible for something to happen? And by something it could be anything from a country such as Iran or North Korea declaring war on someone, with the threat of a nuclear exchange. A storm or natural disaster larger than we have ever seen before. I mean it could be anything. I just feel with all the evidence that points to something that may happen, I think its possible for it to happen. Again not saying it will, nor do I care if it does (I can't do anything about it anyway) but I think its not far fetched to think something very significant can happen in the time period we are living in. March 2, 201016 yr And regardless of popular belief, Timothy Leary was a very, very, highly intelligent individual. Can't argue with that.
March 2, 201016 yr ... but I think its not far fetched to think something very significant can happen in the time period we are living in. Sure it can. However, it will not have anything to do with a Mayan calendar, a rogue planet, Nostradamus or Cayce predictions, the I Ching, Web Bot or anything based on pseudoscience. It will happen because significant events have ALWAYS happened throughout history...ice ages, major volcanic eruptions, devastating earthquakes, terrible hurricanes and typhoons, large geomagnetic storms, wars of massive casualities, etc. If one of these things happen tomorrow, are the 2012ers right? If it happens on June 8th, 2015 are the 2012ers right? I think that it is far fetched to link the blue with the red.
March 2, 201016 yr I would like to add another thing that irritates me. This 2012 hysteria has even caused some to claim that they're going to commit suicide just before the Dec. 21, 2012. They have stated that they do not want to be around to see the horrific images of the world coming to an end. Now, these people probably have some underlying psychological problems, but it shows what this kind of hysteria can lead to. Much like those suffering from Post-Avatar depression, I won't miss them.
March 2, 201016 yr I believe the threat was ended when Bruce Willis detonated the bomb in the center of the meteorite. Even if one did take all of this seriously, if truly there is to be a cataclysmic event, when is more important than anything else to me as I would chose to adjust my 401K withholding and possibly change my spending habits.
March 2, 201016 yr I'm with Dolamite on this one. I think something major will occur. It's just an opinion though, and I appreciate Dolamite for taking the time to share his opinion. No need to jump all over him for it. It is a fascinating topic to discuss, and you all asked for more from him and he gave you more. Then you just jump on him for that. Something that really fascinates me is the Web Bot system Dolamite was talking about earlier. I have heard about this before and once I get done with midterms and have some extra times on my hand I'd like to look into it. I would like to see more of the predictions it has made that haven't come true, but the Sept 11th prediction is pretty mind blowing.
March 2, 201016 yr As for the web bot. Doesn't it just crawl the internet and collect data that's being published? So isn't the web bot collecting more stuff about 2012 because there are more people talking about it on the internet? I mean, there's so many people talking about 2012 being the end of the world, so it wouldn't be that hard for the web bot to make a correlation there. Keep in mind, the web bot doesn't collect information from God, it collects information from what people are talking about on the internet. So the more people talking about 2012, the stronger the correlation is going to be...doesn't mean it's going to happen. If the web bot was around near the Y2K event, I'm sure it predicted something catastrophic for that time too due to the thousands, if not millions, of pages devoted to it on the internet. Here is an excerpt from an article regarding the web bot, published Nov. 6, 2009: In fact, a quick search on the Net and you'll find predictions that date as far back as the 5th century. George Ure, one of the guys behind the Web Bot Project--which analyzes Web chatter to identify patterns and establish predictions--had predicted a major event would take place Nov. 5, 2009, possibly war between five nations. Waaait a minute, wasn't Nov. 5 yesterday?
