  1. Cheering is one thing....the sound of a thousand goats being slaughtered is completely different. This past Saturday and Sunday was unbearable. I will say that I turned it on tonight and it sounded like they must have turned down the crowd mics. That, or there weren't as many people at that game, but the noise of the vuvuzelas was definitely not as prominent as it had been on Saturday and Sunday.
  2. I'd give away Cordero and Harang for Lee.
  3. You know the "most annoying sound in the world" that Jim Carey made in Dumb and Dumber? That's what a vuvuzela sounds like.
  4. I, too, cannot stand those dang horns. Makes me want to punch a baby penguin. That sound of a thousand goats being slaughtered gives me a headache. And who wants to put the TV on mute? It's a TV for petes sake....why would I bother to watch something if I have to watch it on mute just to make it bearable? And then if it's on mute, the likelihood of me falling asleep from boredom will only double.
  5. Maybe it was an exception, but the last time I went to KI, they stopped all outdoor rides when it started raining. Conditions weren't what I'd call "poor," it was just sprinkling, but the only rides open were the ones indoors. Again, might have been an exception, IDK.
  6. Next time you see them, look for barcode stickers on the windows. If they have those (and even if they don't sometimes) it's a rental car. We've got a ton of cars from Ohio right now. People one-way cars they rented in Ohio and a lot of the time the place in KY that the car was returned to will just keep the car. It's easier than having the original branch in Ohio drive down and get it.
  7. Here's another question. I've always heard that police aren't allowed to use radar when it's raining. Something about it being dangerous because people will see a police car and hit the breaks and possibly spin out and cause an accident. Any truth to that? In my experiences, it's always best to be honest. I've only been pulled over for speeding 2 times in my life, but each time, I admitted that I was an out-of-towner and didn't know what the speed limit was. Once was at night in Woodford Co. on a road I had never driven before, the other was at night in Oldham Co. and snow had covered the speed limit sign. We even drove back down the road after being pulled over, because I was in disbelief that there was a speed limit sign there. I've also learned that it's pretty handy if you know the officer who pulls you over. I've seen people get out of tickets several times just because they knew the officer or someone the officer worked with.
  8. Watched Crazy Heart this weekend and thought it was pretty good. A little depressing, but good.
  9. Yes, which speaks volumes about the quality of a Mac. As a college student, they would indeed get dropped, things spilled on them, and eaten alive with viruses.
  10. I disagree. I only do light graphic design (and that's only on occasion) and switching to a Mac was the best computer-related decision I ever made. I used PCs my entire life. When I went to college my parents got me a laptop. It died after about a year. So I get another PC laptop. It also bit the dust. So I get another PC laptop.......same old song and dance. All 3 were unable to be repaired. I bought a Macbook 2-3 years ago and haven't had a single problem out of it. It still runs as if it were new. Not one single virus, not one single problem. I thought it'd be difficult to learn too.....I was WAY wrong. Is it different from a Windows-based computer? Yes, but in a good way. Everything is so easy and MAKES SENSE.
  11. Thanks, it one of my favorite basses I've owned. I had to go with red because of the matching red headstock. They make them in other colors, but red is the only one with a matching color headstock. Unfortunately, I've had a Rickenbacker bass and an '82 G&L L-1000 bass that I've previously owned and had to get rid of. Surprisingly, that old G&L gave the Rickenbacker a run for it's money. When I bought the Jag bass I had the decision between that or a Fender Geddy Lee bass. Once I learned that the Jag bass had practically the same neck as the Geddy Lee + active pickups and more tonal controls, I was sold. The thing I did like about the Geddy Lee was that it came with a Leo Quan high-mass bridge. (I can't say the actual name of it on here) However, I bought a Gotoh 201 bridge and put it on the Jag bass and got a ton more punch and sustain than I did with the stock Fender bridge.
  12. I have this: (Fender Jaguar Bass with a modified bridge) this: (Epiphone EB-0 Bass, mostly just for looks because there aren't many tonal options with a mudbucker pickup) and this: (Lanikai LU-21P Pineapple Ukulele) I run my basses through an Acoustic amp and cabs and for recording use Amplitube Ampeg SVX.
  13. No way, even with their recent misstep, I don't think they'll lose much ground. If anything, they might gain a spot or two in the next 10 years. 1. Coca Cola 2. IBM 3. Microsoft 4. GE 5. Nokia 6. McDonald's 7. Google 8. Toyota 9. Intel 10. Disney The bolded are the only ones I feel aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Everything else I can see dropping out of the top 10.
  14. Disney Nokia Cisco Systems I'll add Marlboro in there as well Samsung Budweiser Honda Mercedes-Benz Heineken Guinness Kellogg's Nintendo
  15. Switching back and forth between the Reds game and "Born Schizophrenic: January's Story."
  16. Just checked the kymesonet site and it said Madison County has gotten 4.62 inches of rain so far. It's still coming down here and there are some very bad spots on the roads. I had to leave my apartment because our internet went down and I had an assignment that needed to be submitted online. I have 4 entrances/exits to my complex and 3 of them had about a foot or more of fast-flowing water going by them. I didn't dare go through that in a '96 Celica that sits about 4 inches off the ground. Luckily, one of the exits was further up a hill and it was fine. Right now I'm bumming internet off of the local Goodyear, hoping the internet and satellite come back on at my apartment. Could be worse though, as someone in the building next to mine (on the bottom floor) is apparently flooded. When I was leaving, I noticed the landlord's truck and some kind of pump system running from that building. It's a mess out there. Unfortunately, I have to go in to work tonight sometime after dark, so I'm hoping this calms down a bit as it gets later.
  17. Some seriously bad flash flooding occurring here in Richmond.
  18. I've seen this at the Redbox for several weeks now, but hadn't heard anything about it to know whether it was a good rent or not. From the sound of it, I will likely pick it up this weekend. If the pick of the three guitarists was made on innovations in style and playing, then one other name I would have liked to have seen would be Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine. Some of the stuff he does on guitar makes me scratch my head and wonder how in the heck he did that.
  19. No idea why, always hated the stuff when I was a kid, but I recently had a huge craving for cottage cheese. So I buy a big container of the stuff and mixed it with a little salt and pepper. It hit the spot. I had a bunch left over, so for the past few days I had also been mixing some grapes in with my cottage cheese. Ran out of grapes over the weekend so decided to experiment. Peeled, sliced, and chopped some red apples. Tossed in a cinnamon sugar powder, then mixed in with cottage cheese and it was delicious. What are some of your favorite cottage cheese creations?
  20. I have to go with Freddie because as a kid he scared the crap out of me. I never watched Nightmare on Elm Street because I was so scared. This does remind me of a good prank we pulled one night though. My buddies and I were all around 14 at the time and were at a friends house for a sleep-over. This one guy loved the Halloween movies, he even had the full Michael Myers costume. We waited until he fell asleep and one of us dressed up in the Myers costume, then we blasted the theme song and stood beside his bed with a butcher knife. He woke up absolutely freaking out for a few seconds until he realized what was going on.
  21. Don't know why some of you don't want to be called "papaw" or something of the like. When I get that old, I want to own it. Just call me "pappy" or some other name that makes me sound like an old geezer.
  22. Maw-maw and paw-paw. That's how it's pronounced anyways.
  23. The only time I ever get it is on Saturdays, and only if I have enough time before work. Other than that, I'll grab something at the house.
