Lexington Catholic comes into Pikeville Friday night to take on the Panthers.

Can Pikeville make a game of it?

I would love to see Pikeville win this game, but Lexington Catholic just seems to be on a totally different level. Ill be pulling for Pikeville in this one, but just keeping it close would be a great showing by the Panthers, and a win would be a huge upset.

Win or lose this game will make Pikeville a better football team...GO PANTHERS!!

:thumb: You have to admire Pikeville's and Coach J's guts by taking on Cath. And you are right, scheduling teams like this only makes you better in terms of postseason play.

I agree. When I looked at Pikeville's schedule for the first time I thought I was seeing things... Pretty cool though... I'm hoping for a good clean game, with no injuries, that will help both teams improve...

Good luck Panthers.

Considering that Pikeville's opponents as of Friday were 0-9 combined, I think it's safe to say that Holy Cross and Ashland are having very down years. I don't think Pikeville is as tough as they are being made out to be.

Don't get me wrong, Pikeville is a good team and better than they have been in the last couple years, but this will be a beating by Lex. Cath.

I think Pikeville will hang in there until about halfway through the second quarter, show a little fire after halftime, and then it's downhill from there. Lex. Cath. will be too fast and will have the Panthers huffing and puffing sooner than expected.

The only way that Lexington Catholic wins by less than five touchdowns is if the starters come out in the middle of the 2nd quarter instead of after the first series in the third quarter.

Good to see you also picked Lex Cath to beat St. X. ;) I think you will be very surprised by Pikeville. And no, I'm not predicting a Pikeville win.

^ BillyRayJoeBob, I had to pick for the home team!! Plus, I really thought they were going to have a shot this year against St. X - shows you what I knew! To St. X's credit, they showed great team speed and also took advantage of an inexperienced and hesitant Lex Cath passing game.

We look forward to coming to Pikeville and thanks for scheduling us - it will be my first trip to Pike in about 20+ years. Can we bring you anything from here in Lexington?

Bring us the second string and leave everybody else at home...:D

Seriously, I love the scheduling and the thanks go to you guys...this will help our team a great deal, give them a bunch of things to work on, lol...

If you haven't been to Pikeville in 20 years, you are in for a treat...:thumb:

Call me crazy, but I believe Pikeville will put up some points in this one. LexCath ahs been vulnerable to the big play, especially out of the running game.

But... they won't score enough points to win.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Pikeville has a running back from the likes of Jason Ford (Althoff Catholic) or Deuce Finch (St. X). With the exception of one run, Ford would have only had about 80 yards rushing on 18 carries (he did rip off a run for about 85 yards against the JV) - and Finch - well Deuce was Deuce - he had multiple huge runs!

Pikeville has arguably the best running back in the mountains in Daniel Harmon, and two other great backs in the Honaker twins who are getting tons of D-1 looks, and a couple of other good backs in Chaz Jackson and Justin Mullins. Pikeville has one of the best running games you will see anywhere. And if LC has problems stopping the run, they will have problems stopping Pikeville's running game...

Pikeville will move the ball on LC, and score...but if they are able to slow down LC's offense will determine whether it will be a good game or not.
