Yes I do. I just read something on that. The experts said the world was supposed to end in 2000 due to technology. They said the world is supposed to end in 2012 due to much bigger and larger things that we cant control.

 

Who is "they" and why should "they" be believed? Seriously, research that. I have. The bottom line is this...no credible scientist believes that 2012 is destined to be the end of times for either humanity or our planet. What is happening is that a bunch of people are profiting off of creating fear in others. They buy the books, watch the shows and come away worried. It's called pseudoscience. They use nice big science words, talk about the sun and solar cycles, mention an ancient civilization that "they" say left evidence that the 2012 solstice would be our end. (Nevermind that this same civilization wasn't capable of preventing their own demise...at their own doing.)

 

Here's the thing, though. It happens ALL of the time. As someone else alluded to, there have been many "apocalypse" dates that someone loosely links to science. For example, one of the most recent ones was back in 2000, I think, when all of the planets were going to line up and, due to their gravity, would cause the earth orbit to be perturbed, resulting in movement of the earth's axis, and cataclysm. I mean, who could argue with GRAVITY????????

 

The problem is, that is was pseudoscience. Using real science principles and terms to make something SEEM true. As you can tell, we are still here. This planetary alignment (which btw has happened tens of thousands of times since our planet came to be 4.6 billion years ago) happened. We couldn't control it BUT...it did NOTHING to bring catastrophe to our planet.

2012 is just a way for people to make money. It's kind of fun to talk about, but it's nothing more than a bunch of garbage IMO.

It may not be end of the world, but I honestly feel like something life changing or earth changing may happen around that time. Maybe not on Dec 21st, maybe not even in 2012, but around that time. This topic is one of my interests, and I have studied a lot about it. I know its easy for a skeptic to dismiss it, because a lot of it is hard to comprehend being it has never happened before, and it seems far fetched. BUT, people often realize that the world (the Earth we live on) has been destroyed six different times. There have been a half a dozen or so credible prophets who have made 2012 predictions, most on the exact date of Dec. 21st. There have been countless other not so well known prophets/historians who have made likewise predictions. If you take enough time to research thoroughly, then it is clear that it would have to be one huge coincidence for all of this to happen or for all these people/cultures to have made these warnings. Anyone who knows The Bible knows of the hardships the world will see right before the Tribulation period, and even more hardships after then. There have been very many earth altering instances in the past decade, and things continue to look as if they are getting worst way before they are getting better. Since I am on this subject I could go all day, so I'm not. So all I am saying is that although I personally don't think it will be the end of the world/earth, I do think its very possible to see something Earth changing/altering around that time.

^ But like others have said on here, as long as you have a close bond with Jesus Christ, and are trying to live the right kind of life, then it shouldn't even be a worry to you.

Okay, I was trying not to get too deep into this discussion, but I guess I will have to now.

Many historians give Nostradamus credit for predicting future events ranging from the rise and fall of Napoleon and Hitler, to the deaths of King Henri II (who lived at the time of Nostradamus, and had predicted exactly how he would die) and other notable figures in history. He also had prophecies about The Great Depression, World War II, The Assassination of JFK, and 911. The fact that a lot of Nostradamus views are corresponding with so many others on this subject is very interesting.

 

2.) The second one I will throw out is the one you hear about the most, and that is the Mayan Long Count Calender, in which ends on Dec 21, 2012. The Mayans were incredible astrologers for their time, and even designed a majority of their structures according to the constellations in the night sky. It's amazing how advanced these people were in astrology and astronomy. For some reason they ended their calender on the date of Dec. 21 2012. This is significant because many of the top astrologers, astronomers of today say there is set to be a galactic event of epic proportion happen around this time. Around the end of 2012 we are supposed to experience a galactic alignment in which all of the planets will be in a direct line with the sun, something that only happens every hundreds of thousand years. The astronomers also say that this event could cause major problems on earth being it will change the gravity field dramatically and could cause major drop or raise in the oceans water levels. The fact that the Mayans were expert astronomers for their time, and the fact they picked the end date for the Long Count Calender to be set around a date in which modern astrologers are saying we are to experience a galactic event of epic proportions is eye catching to say the least. Some suggest this end date means the end of the world, others and myself included think the date just suggests the marking of major change to the earth as we know it.

 

3.) Edgar Cayce, actually a Kentuckian from Hopkinsville. Considered to be the modern prophet, and very accurate in his readings thus far. Cayce would perform readings for people, and they would occur by him putting himself into a sleep state, then someone asking him a question, with someone else writing down what he said. The results were astonishing. There is over 300 books written about Cayce and his life. With only a ninth grade education Cayce was amazing in the things he brought about through his readings. So credible in fact the President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, sought Cayce's help after becoming ill with something no doctor had been able to diagnose. Cayce actually told Wilson what was wrong with him, and how to treat it. Almost everything Cayce said later became known as fact. One of the most famous of his reading outcomes was that he said that the lost city of Atlantis was actually hidden in the Caribbean, many years later, scientists uncovered a row of stones off the coast of the Bahamas that some think may be remminents of the famed lost city. Cayce also had many readings stating that something catastrophic was set to happen around the year 2012.

 

4.) I Ching and Timewave Theory: In the early 1970's scientists Terence Mckenna, and his partner undertook a massive study of the ancient Chineese I Ching (a chineese text in which many believed could be used to predict the future). The I Ching itself is known by "The Book of Changes" and often could be used to document important dates/events in Ancient China. McKenna studied the I Ching until he found a pattern emerge, then coincided it with his own "Timewave Theory". Through this McKenna believed that everything that has happened to Earth has happened on a time wave sequence of ups and downs. He went all the way back through history documenting the most significant events, and was astounded when he discovered a distinct pattern in the timewaves. With many years of work, and the help of the computer, he finally finished mapping out his theory, with the shocking end date of 2012. He says according to the wave of events, the cataclyism by his account and his studies should occur right around 2012, a time in which he says anything and everything that can occur can happen simultaneously.

 

5.) Hopi Indians: The Hopi Tribe had and documented a distinct belief that something cataclysmic is set to occur around the time of 2012. In their prophecies they had predicted the coming of the white man, wars, devastations, etc. They had divided their views and time periods into worlds. They said that the time when humanity will end is in the 5th world, the world we are living in right now.

 

 

 

Okay, so that is five right there, all with different backgrounds, culture, and none with contact with each other. Aside from the Mayan, Hopi, and Ancient Chineese (all more ancient type of civilizations who would have had zero chance of communicating with one other), the Egyptians, and other ancient civilizations also had predictions hinting the same things, however, they are not as famous or as documented.

 

 

Many more like predictions have been made, these are just the most well documented, and most upheld at this time IMO. However among these are a new one that is starting to gain steam. It is the Web Bot Theory. It was a computer program created in 1997 to predict or project stock market trends. Clif High was the creator. The program works by searching the internet for a period of time and gathering around 300,000 trendy words or phrases at the time. These words are then broken down and broken down until a paragraph type statement emerges, structured much like Nostradamus' quatraines. It is said that the web bot can predict catastrophes 60-90 days in advance. The Web Bot Project gained momentum after making a prediction in the summer of 2001 that read something like, High rise buildings, New York City, end of Summer, Terrorists, Airplanes. Everyone kind of laughed off the assumption since it was made by a computer program, although High and other We Bot promoters was trying to forecast their findings.

 

 

I saw a documentary in which showed one of the biggest historians in the US talking about the web bot. He was talking about how he heard a guy made a program that was supposed to predict things. He said a friend was telling him about the 911 prediction, and he just laughed it off like most other historians/scientists did. However, after something did happen in late summer of that year, the historian said he would take notice to whatever the Web Bot project team said next. If that happened, then he said he would really be a believer. Well in 2005, the Web Bot stated that there would be a huge storm, southern US, major city, gone, people die in flood waters, etc. etc. This was made months before Hurricane Katrina (and of course is not the exact words of the prediction just the gist) and after Katrina, the Web Bot gained a significant amount of followers in the scientific and historical world. Other Web Bot predictions include, Dick Cheney being shot in hunting accident, Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, AA flight 587, 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, among others.

Now personally, I do not base my opinion off a computer program, or this, or that. If coincidence, this would have the be the biggest coincidence of all time. Where there's smoke, there's fire. As a Christian, I know that Christ will come like a thief in the night, when no one expects. So I am not saying I think the "world will end" in 2012. However, I do feel strongly something unprecedented will happen around that time. As a History major, I have studied this a lot, as I have gained a strong interest in it. For some reason it just fascinates me. What I have outlined here was just a quick overview of some of the points that have effected my views, and if people studied the subject as much as me, may develop similar views. Again, not trying to argue who will be right, who will be wrong, I am just saying that something has to happen around that time, there's no way all the projections made are just all coincidence, and there's zero chance it is a hoax. But again, as a Christian, I will just sit back and see what happens, if it does it does, if it don't it don't, doesn't matter to me. Still interesting to discuss though.

The problems I have with Nostradamus and your other mentioned "prophets" are that they do not actually predict anything. They make vague statements and then people try to fit those statements to current events. Edgar Cayce is about as credible as Uri Geller.

As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia, anyway.

A: For any claims of disaster or dramatic changes in 2012, where is the science? Where is the evidence?
