I could be wrong but I think the oldest in NKY is CovCath's. I believe it was opened in '56. NCC is a clone but I don't know when they opened on the hill.

Augusta's was built in 1926.

I know some may not agree with me on this one, but I always enjoyed the challenge of playing on St. Henry's old court. It was so small it had the moving half court line. Definitely a challenge.

 

It's like the current Eminence cracker box, but that's where I learned to play ball. St. Henry not Eminence.

Don't know what year it was built, but the Henry County gym is getting up there in age. Any of our 8th Region folks know when HC was built?? It still seats 5200.

Early 60s. Hosted its first regional tournament in 1963.

The old "Tiger Den" at Clay Co. which is now the middle school.

 

I played there back in the seventies. Bobby Keith had everybody intimidated when you came in there.

Bell County's old gym was a nice place to play. They were tough there as well.

My dad play at MMI in '56. One year, on the Saturday of the state tournament, between the semis and finals, he took me to the school. The gym was open and a ball was present. We played a few games of horse, it was a very nice moment for us to share.

I agree with Newports old gym, i used to dread going over their, what a home court advantage, it was a classic.

 

I remember in 1959 when Maysville had the no 1 team in the state and went to Newport and got beat by 24 points. It was hard to win down there.

Not gone but the Spectrum is host to the St Francis Wyverns, which is the Old Male Location on Brook Street in Louisville. Missing some lights and run by the Salvation Army, it looks like it has housed a bunch of great games.

Its still exists but my favorite old gym in NKY.....Turner's!
